Casting actors for "Urinetown" musical. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Additional info: ​Vocal Audition: Please prepare one 30-60 second musical theatre song in a comedic style. Please do not sing a song from Urinetown. An accompanist will be provided at auditions. Please bring your clearly labeled sheet music in a book or a binder. Dance Audition: Arrive dressed to move. Dance shoes (character shoes, ballet slippers, or jazz slippers) are recommended, but not required. Callbacks, if necessary, will take place on Saturday, August 9th, by invitation only. Those invited will be notified. If you have a conflict with the callback audition date, please be sure to clearly indicate that on your Audition Form. Rehearsals will begin in late August. Weekday rehearsals run Monday-Thursday evenings, while weekend rehearsals will typically take place on Saturday or Sunday from 12 - 4 pm. Rehearsal times are subject to change, and directors request that you thoroughly indicate all weekday, weekend, and holiday conflicts on your Conflict Calendar.​​ Load-in and Tech rehearsals will take place the weekend of October 24th. Brush-up rehearsals will be held between performance weekends at the discretion of the directing and stage management teams. These would be held on November 6th and 13th. Shoes & Makeup: Cast members are responsible for obtaining the proper footwear for rehearsals and performances. For health reasons, the cast must also supply their own makeup. Exceptions may be made for those few characters requiring specialty makeup. Directors will provide a designer who will meet with the cast to explain the concepts, color palette, and application techniques.​ This production will run November 1, 7, 8, 14, 15 at 7:30 PM and November 2, 9, and 16 at 2:00 PM at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre. No conflicts with show dates will be accepted. A conflict calendar is attached. If interested, please apply.

A corrupt policeman and the tongue-in-cheek narrator of our story. Bold and brash. An authoritative voice, with rich low notes but a firm G4. Excellent comic timing needed and strong acting ability. Vocal Range: A2 - A4

Bobby StrongMale20-30 y.o.All ethnicities

The “good-looking”, rebellious everyman who works for Miss Pennywise at the poorest, filthiest town urinal. He becomes an unsuspecting protagonist and romantic hero when he starts a revolution. A clear high tenor; a nimble falsetto is a plus. Vocal Range: A2 - Ab4 (potential C5)

Hope CladwellFemale18-25 y.o.All ethnicities

An innocent, romantic optimist who becomes vengeful and determined after being exposed to her father's evil. A naïve girl who believes there is good in everyone. Falls in love with Bobby. Strong acting and singing ability with good comic timing. Vocal Range: A3 – A5, Strong Soprano.

The tough, jaded warden of the poorest, filthiest town urinal. Could be younger in real age but will be made up to look older. A gutsy female character. Strong acting and comic timing needed. Need to be an excellent singer with a belt and potentially shrill up to a G5. Vocal Range: A3 - G5 (potential C6!)

Caldwell B. CladwellMale50-65 y.o.All ethnicities

The president and owner of the Urine Good Company. A tyrant who both gleefully exploits the poor and genuinely believes he is helping the city. Baritone, needs crisp diction. Excellent acting with strong stage presence. Vocal Range: A2 – G4

A precocious and irreverent street urchin. She serves as a quasi-narrator who often questions Lockstock and the play's logic. Needs to be smallish in stature because she is the ‘child’ of the cast. Needs to look young in stage age. Strong acting, singing ability and comic timing. (To play young teen) Vocal Range: A3-E5

THE POOR A strong-willed woman with fight, and a better ability than most to deal with the hard hand life has dealt her. Strong acting and singing. Vocal Range: Bb3 - D5
