About the project: THE PAJAMA GAME is a classic musical comedy that tells the story of a love affair blossoming between a new factory superintendent, Sid Sorokin, and a fiery union representative, Babe Williams. At the Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory, tensions are high — and not just on the factory floor. As the workers fight for a 7½ cent pay raise, management and labor clash in a battle of wills — and Sid and Babe find themselves caught between their growing attraction and their loyalties. Called “Dynamic and Joyous” by The Guardian, THE PAJAMA GAME promises an evening of laughter, songs, dance and heart! Additional info: PREPARATION: Please bring a headshot and resume All Performers MUST attend the 9am Mover OR 10am Dance Call prior to your Vocal Appointment. Please come warmed up and ready to dance! Bring character shoes/jazz shoes/jazz sneakers and knee pads. Please bring a Bowler Hat if you have one. A monitor will be provided. For your Vocal Appointment: Prepare a 32-bar cut of an uptempo Golden Age Music Theatre song. Please bring a track ready to go – directors will provide a speaker. You may be asked for a contrasting 32-bar song cut. A monitor will be provided. (Legit Baritone) Handsome superintendent. New superintendent at Sleep Tite. He is a charming, productive worker. Adamant about retaining his job and improving his job performance. Must sing and act very well.
(Legit Mezzo) Feisty union head. The leader of the Union Grievance Committee, who against her own will at first, falls in love with Sid. Strong, feisty, a little stubborn, and full of pride for the union but also charming and sensitive. The unspoken leader of the workers and women who work at the factory. Broadway belt.
(Baritone, comic role). Time study man at Sleep Tite. Funny, and he is the jealous type, but has a kind heart and a talent in knife-throwing. Surprisingly soft around the edges.
(Character Alto, dance) Mr. Hasler’s secretary. Her penchant for nights out on the town, along with her sexy demeanor, often lands her in hot water with men. Gladys is an exceptional dancer. Quick-witted bookkeeper. A heavy dance role.
(Character Tenor) President of the union at Sleep Tite. He is not the brightest person. A notorious flirt and womanizer who constantly regrets his marriage.
The president at Sleep Tite. Fiscally conservative, he is demanding, stubborn, and uptight. He is keeping a secret from the entire company, except Gladys knows!
(Alto) Sid’s secretary. Her earnestness can occasionally melt into crassness, but she is always very aware of the happenings at Sleep Tite. Dancer.
