Seeking Actors for an Outdoor Staged Reading
Theatre is looking for non-union, local actors for an outdoor staged reading (weather permitting) of two one acts, "Shakespeare Shorts" and "Shakespeare’s Dead Dames". See more info below. About the project: Shakespeare Shorts synopsis: 30 minutes of Shakespeare scenes, monologues, songs and sonnets to be determined. Shakespeare’s Dead Dames synopsis: Six of Shakespeare’s Ladies have moved from their in-performance deaths to a green room waiting to be cast in a new production of the Shakespeare play they relive again and again. A farce reminiscent of Chamber Music (Arthur Kopit) and The Women (Clare Booth Luce), this energetic piece is a short, Shakespearean sitcom. Rate: $400.00 per gig. Pay will be commensurate with Equity scale. Actors must have their own housing. Additional info: Good comedic timing and a facility with Shakespeare needed. Actors chosen will be cast in both shows. Preparation: Actors should prepare a short Shakespeare sonnet, song or monologue. You may be asked to do a cold reading of Shakespeare and/or Shakespeare’s Dead Dames. Sides will be provided. Rehearsals: August 11th, 12th and 13th with performances August 13th-16th. This production will be performed outdoors, weather permitting. If you are interested, please apply.
