About the project: From musical theatre's most renowned composer, Company is largely regarded as a trailblazer of the dark-comedy, modern-musical genre and the winner of six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Score, Best Lyrics and Best Book. On the night of his 35th birthday, confirmed bachelor, Robert, contemplates his unmarried state. Over the course of a series of dinners, drinks and even a wedding, his friends explain the pros and cons of taking on a spouse. The habitually single Robert is forced to question his adamant retention of bachelorhood during a hilarious array of interactions. Rate: This is a non-paid opportunity. Additional info: No experience is necessary. Headshots and resumes are encouraged but not required. What to Prepare: Auditions will consist of vocal, dance, and acting components. (Due to time constraints, the acting component may be reserved for call backs.) Vocals: Please prepare close to, but no longer than, a 60 second cut of a musical theatre song in the style of the show that showcases your range and acting skills. Please bring an mp3 track or youtube karaoke track cued up on your phone/smart device. No A CAPPELLA or sheet music auditions. An accompanist will NOT be provided. Dancing: The dance session will include learning a brief dance combo. If you have any dance training or can safely perform any acro tricks, please note on the form. Time will be reserved at the end of the dance call for these specialized dancers. Please wear appropriate clothing and shoes. Acting: The acting portion of the audition will include cold readings from the script. Directors will be looking for truthfulness, peppiness, and high interpretation. The acting component may be reserved for callbacks only. Callbacks: Tuesday, June 10th, 2025 at 7 p.m. Rehearsals: The exact rehearsal schedule is to be determined, but rehearsals are usually 2-4 days per week, mostly weekday nights, but there may be rehearsals on Saturdays in the daytime and/or Sundays in the evening. Weekday evening rehearsals generally begin at 7 p.m. and can last as late as 10 p.m. (possibly later during tech week) Sunday evening rehearsals generally begin at 6 p.m. and can last as late as 10 p.m. Not all cast members will be called to every rehearsal. There will be a total of approximately 30 rehearsals for this production, plus tech week. The rehearsal schedule intensifies as opening night draws closer. Tech week rehearsals often run later into the evening. Tech Week: August 31st - September 4th, 2025. Performers MUST be available for all tech week rehearsals and all performances. There are no exceptions! PRODUCTION DATES: September 5th - 27th, 2025, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. Sundays at 2 p.m. Saturday 2 p.m. matinee on September 13th. Alto. Harry's hypercritical wife. She is an avid learner of karate and tends to overeat. Open, accepting, and loving.
Baritone. Sarah's husband. He is a recovering alcoholic. Believes the advantages of marriage outweigh the disadvantages.
Mezzo. A delicate southern belle. Peter's wife and ex-wife. Motherly in her affections towards Robert.
Baritone. Susan's husband. The perfect husband and ex-husband. He is very liberal in his view of relationships.
Soprano. Quietly manipulative, simultaneously square and wise. Loves her husband, David, and will indulge him from time to time.
Tenor. Jenny's husband; relaxed and always in control. Believes a man should be married and that the sacrifice of freedom is worth what you get in return.
Alto. A frantic neurotic engaged to Paul but terrified of marriage. After a mental breakdown, she finally realizes that Paul is, in fact, her soulmate.
Tenor. Amy's fiancé. Patient with her neurotic nature. Fully commits to the idea of marriage and encourages Robert to do the same.
Alto. Acerbic and demanding. Too old to be part of the young crowd but would not fit well with the older crowd. Puts on a brassy front that melts when she is alone with her husband, Larry.
Tenor. Joanne's husband. Stoic and centered, but has moments of goofiness. Indulges his wife's behavior but knows when to put his foot down.
Mezzo. A girlfriend of Robert's. Intensely modern, seeking adventure and excitement in the City.
Mezzo. A former girlfriend of Robert's, now considered a good friend. She plans to leave the City for a life of domesticity. Sweet and loving.
Mezzo. A girlfriend of Robert's. She is a flight attendant who came to New York to live in Radio City. Ditzy and adorable.
