8 roles

CORNLEY POLYTECHNIC STAGE CREWBoth genders18-56 y.o.All ethnicities

(3 to 4 roles) The backbone of the whole show and the magic makers on and off stage. All crew will create their own characters and will be a major part of preshow and throughout to fix problems, recover items, and maybe save the whole show. Many improv opportunities on and off stage as well as audience interaction. Physically demanding roles for those up for a challenge!

ANNIE TWILLOIL / STAGE MANAGERFemale18-56 y.o.All ethnicities

The dedicated and somewhat frazzled stage manager turned actress who steps in when a leading actress is unable to continue with the show. Shy and terrified at first, she finds the acting flame she never thought she’d have. So much so that when the leading lady tries to come back, Annie refuses and a battle of the divas ensues. This role is very physical and will require combat choreography.

SANDRA WILKINSON / FLORENCE COLLEYMOOREFemale18-56 y.o.All ethnicities

She is the reigning diva of the Drama Society. She is vain and has a huge ego. Has high ambitions to go to Hollywood/New York and will hurt anyone standing in the way of what she wants. This role is very physical and will require combat choreography. Actress playing this role must be comfortable appearing on stage in less than full costume with underwear revealed.

JONATHAN HARRIS / CHARLES HAVERSHAMMale18-56 y.o.All ethnicities

Jonathan plays Charles Haversham who has been murdered in the opening of the murder mystery they are performing. He is a bit bland but sees himself as a suave James Bond type. He cannot seem to stay dead and to know exactly when his grand entrances are within the show. Tasked with driving the narrative, he approaches his role with enthusiasm but feels the weight of each mistake deeply.

ROBERT GROVE / THOMAS COLLEYMOOREMale18-56 y.o.All ethnicities

Robert is a long time member of the Drama Society. Has a very declamatory style of acting, however, he is not a parody of a bad actor. He is just totally unaware of others around him and never learns from mistakes. He is vocally powerful and thinks he can act his way out of anything. His determination for the show to succeed along with his physical prowess means that he often ends up accidentally breaking things. Very physical role.

DENNIS TYDE / PERKINS the BUTLERMale18-56 y.o.All ethnicities

Dennis is playing the Butler, Perkins. This is his first time ever on stage hence his tendency to forget his lines, mispronounce words, lose his blocking and is often the one to drop the theatrical ball. He is flustered yet determined even though no one respects him. Dennis is a physical role and the actor portraying him must convey his earnest attempts to fit in and his sensitivity to audience reactions.

MAX BENNETT / CECIL HAVERSHAMMale18-56 y.o.All ethnicities

A brand new member to the Drama Society, Max has never been on stage. He has learned his lines and does exactly what he’s told to do. When he gets a laugh he tends to break the 4th wall to engage with the audience. He can’t help himself but play up for laughs. He is quite goofy, naive and excitable, but isn’t quite able to discern when the audience is laughing at him or with him.

CHRIS BEAN / INSPECTOR CARTERMale18-56 y.o.All ethnicities

The head of the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society and is the director and lead actor of the play-within-a-play murder mystery. He is rigid, uptight and everything matters. When things begin to go wrong he desperately tries to hold it together while glaring dagger eyes into the bumbling cast around him. He is determined to shine, but his over enthusiasm often leads to slapstick blunders.
