Casting Performers for "Mary Poppins" Play

Gulf Shores, AL, United States
ID: 284107Exp: 5/12/2025
Description:

Seeking performers for "Mary Poppins". Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: The jack-of-all trades, Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren't the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that "Anything can happen if you let it." Additional info: For the initial audition, you will be asked to prepare BEFOREHAND to sing a specific song and perform a short monologue. Song: If you want to try out for Mary Poppins, you will sing the first part of Practically Perfect. If you want to audition for any other singing part, you will sing the first chorus of “Let’s Go Fly A Kite. You will be asked to sing it by yourself, but if you are completely uncomfortable with this, you may sing it as part of a group. Girls: Try to sing in your upper registry; only go down if you absolutely need to. Acting: If you want to try out for a singing or non-singing role, in the audition folder, there is a CHARACTER MONOLOGUE document. Be prepared to read any of these paragraphs! You DO NOT have to memorize these lines, but be ready to show us your best characters! Once directors have the initial auditions, they will post a call-back list. Call-backs are a follow-up audition where they may ask you to sing a different song to see if you may fit a certain part. If you are not on the call-back list, this does NOT mean you didn’t make the show! This is just a chance to see a few things they weren’t able to see in the initial auditions. Be ready to read a monologue from the audition packet attached (no memorization needed!) CALLBACKS (if necessary): May 20 and 22 from 5:00-8:00 pm Performances July 25 - August 3 If interested, please apply.
