Casting Call for 'Where's Malcolm?' Narrative Short
Casting 'Where's Malcolm?', a narrative short exploring the relationship between two Black high schoolers as one disappears and they both experience discrimination in the classroom. To be submitted to festivals and added to IMDb (plus giving IMDb credit). Logline: After his best friend vanishes, a high schooler clashes against a world that has erased all evidence his friend ever existed.

Waldo – Black, Male, pass as 16-18 years old – Rule-follower, smart, hint of timid. The first to raise his hand in class and the last person to say something if you stepped on his foot on the bus.
Malcolm – Black, Male, pass as 16-18 years old – Playful, loyal, maturity wrapped in childishness. Already telling you off for stepping on Waldo’s foot on the bus. Wants to open up a book/smoke café but is never above trying to wet-willy you.
Teacher – any ethnicity, Male, 30-50 years old – Always greets you with a fake smile. The bell doesn’t dismiss you, he does. (Good amount of space for interpretation with this character.)
Store Owner – Black, any gender, 40-60 years old – Owns the local corner store and neighborhood’s warmest smile. They give the boys free bags of chips every morning. Note: the store owner is "Mr. Ben" in the script, but we encourage and welcome all genders to audition.
