CASTING CALL – SHORT FILM: THE INTERIM Non-Union | Paid | Filming in NYC | Shoot Dates: May 16th and 17th Logline: Between endings and beginnings, two strangers sit suspended in time — one broken by the past, the other disillusioned by the future — searching for meaning in the quiet crucible of the in-between. About the Project: Creating a short film for the Boulder Crest Film Challenge. It’s a lean, low-budget piece that explores post-traumatic growth—the goal is to make something thoughtful and resonant with a small, tight-knit team. The challenge comes with a $10K prize, and I’d plan to split the winnings with the team if we pull it off.

A former teacher, now emotionally adrift and quietly reflective. Stoic, grounded, and full of unspoken pain. Carries the weight of past regrets but still holds a fragile thread of hope. Must convey subtlety, depth, and lived experience. Objective: Show weariness, emotional restraint, quiet despair, and then shift into the flicker of hope or realization. The actor should feel like he’s unpacking something for the first time in a while.
A sharp, emotionally raw tech professional who’s been chewed up by the system. Witty, guarded, and vulnerable beneath the surface. Cynical but not without fire. Must balance sarcasm with sincere emotional range. Objective: Let the actor balance frustration and wit with emotional honesty. Start sharp and guarded, but allow cracks to show — ending with a note of vulnerable defiance.
