The Musical Book," " A Light in the Piazza Book" "Home, I’m Darling" by Laura Wade "Once Upon a Mattress" Rate: Reimbursement stipend of $ 250 for ensemble members, $350 for featured roles, and $500 for lead roles, to cover food and transportation expenses. When applying, please include recording of one monologue that best showcases your talents, and, if you are interested in the musicals, please record a song that suits your voice and let directors know what your range is. Fabrizio’s older brother. A lady’s man. Very Italian. The most physical character in the show. B flat to F. Speaks in Italian. "A Light in the Piazza Book"
Guiseppe’s wife. Very passionate and strong. Unhappy in her marriage but in love with his husband. Darker Soprano or Mezzo Soprano with strong head voice. Low B flat to high B. Speaks Italian, and speaks English with Italian accent. "A Light in the Piazza Book"

Is the central character of the play and she is one stage for the duration of the show. This is a wonderful role with full on 1950s retro feel. Judy is trying desperately throughout the play to keep together the façade she has built of being the perfect 1950s housewife. For this role, the actress needs to be prepared to dance Jive and there is an intimate scene with the actor playing Johnny. This will be rehearsed sensitively so that both actors are comfortable with this. "Home, I’m Darling"
Judy’s husband who initially seems supportive of his wife’s choice to live as a 1950s housewife and to live with the 1950s façade. He too has adopted the fifties lifestyle and clothing. The actor must be prepared to do an intimate scene with the actress playing Judy this will be rehearsed sensitively so that both actors feel comfortable. "Home, I’m Darling"
Judy’s good friend and recently married to Marcus. She is interested in Judy’s lifestyle and appears to admire hers and Johnny’s perfect relationship. She attends Jive weekends with Judy, Johnny and Marcus. "Home, I’m Darling"
Judy’s mother. She is horrified by Judy’s choice to become a housewife having bought Judy up in a commune and to be a feminist. She has two brilliant scenes including a fabulous scene stealing monologue. "Home, I’m Darling"
Johnny’s boss at the estate agency firm. She wears modern dress. She is seen as somewhat opposite to Judy in both her appearance and attitudes. "Home, I’m Darling"
Fran’s husband and friends with Johnny and Judy. He dances Jive with Judy. Marcus is an interesting role who has some controversial views. "Home, I’m Darling"
Lead . Vocal Range - Alto (A3 to B4), Dance Requirements: Light. Character Description: Very protective of her only son, Dauntless. She is a strong character that takes the stage with her presence. She is over-bearing, lively, domineering, but should be played comically. "Once Upon a Mattress"
Lead . Vocal Range - Tenor (D♭ 3 to A♭ 4), Dance Requirements: Experienced. Character Description: Male or Female- Looking for a dancer and special talents- juggling, gymnast, contortionist, etc. Must be flexible, agile and full of energy. Has a hidden passion for show business and the “good old days” His/her loyalties lie with his friends, the King & the Minstrel. "Once Upon a Mattress"
Lead. Vocal Range - Soprano (D♭ 4 to A♭ 5), Dance Requirements: Light. Character Description: She is graceful, charming and in love with Sir Harry. She is very eager for Dauntless to marry so she can wed Harry before her little bundle arrives. She is eager to please and would never cause embarrassment to her love, Sir Harry. Lead. Vocal Range - Tenor (C3 to G4), Dance Requirements: Light. Character Description: He is a handsome and manly knight, but a bit of a “stuffed shirt.” He may one day become the Prime Minister, if he can find a Princess to marry Dauntless, so he can wed Lady Larkin. He is chivalrous, brave, determined and a bit taken with himself. "Once Upon a Mattress"
Supporting . Vocal Range - Tenor (D3 to A♭ 4), Dance Requirements: Light. Character Description: May be cast as male or female. Young, attractive and “worldly”. Has an air of confidence and enjoys telling the real story to the audience. S/he is likeable and cunning when need be. "Once Upon a Mattress"
Supporting. Vocal Range - Baritone (low: A2), Dance Requirements: Light. Character Description: The Queen’s loyal confidante. He is magical, mysterious and able to do several magic tricks. He possesses a sense of “the dark side” and showmanship. "Once Upon a Mattress"
Supporting . Dance Requirements: Light. Character Description: An eye for the ladies! He is mute, due to a curse, but you always know what he is thinking. He is expressive, mischievous and playful with strong facial and physical comedy. (strong at pantomime a plus) "Once Upon a Mattress"
