"Holiday" Audition for the Theater
Audition for the classic romantic dramedy "Holiday". Seeking performers. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Rate: Volunteer/unpaid. Additional info: Rehearsals will be online (i.e., Zoom), with the exception of an in—person meeting to handle paperwork and distribute scripts. Reads stage directions and ensemble character lines. Introduces the audience to the world of the play.
(Female Presenting) – She is in her late 20s but has the air of a 22-year old. Feels trapped by her position in life and her family’s strict views on what it means to live. She copes by using her sense of humor.
(Male Presenting) – A young lawyer who is uninterested in climbing the corporate ladder for its own sake – his goal is to quit work and discover life’s joys. Witty, charming, independent.
(Female Presenting) – Smart but lacking imagination, she is talented at navigating the demands of the upper-social classes. Comfortable with the benefits of her family’s privilege and beautiful enough to make use of them.
(Male Presenting) – Similarly to his sister Linda, he feels trapped by his father’s expectations. Alcoholic, sensitive, darkly funny.
(Male Presenting) – The patriarch of the family, and the leader of the family business. Values wealth, status, and appearances.
(Male Presenting) – Amusing with a strong appreciation for silliness. A good friend (and lifestyle inspiration) to both Johnny and Linda.
(Female Presenting) – Nick’s wife, the level-headed one who is still highly interested in having a good time.
(Male Presenting) – Cousin to the Setons. Has two subjects of conversation: gossip, and his own successes.
