Seeking Talents for 'Pay Me No Mind'
Pay Me No Mind is a new stage production about queer and trans revolutionaries fighting the forces of bigotry and fascism in an autocratic near-future America. Convened in an underground queer bar after unintentionally taking an undercover cop hostage, three revolutionaries must figure out how far they are willing to go in the name of revolution. To apply to act or serve on the stage crew and sign up for information about audition dates and times, those who are interested can go to the link or scan the QR code on the flyer.
5 roles
Black queer woman. Often serves as the de facto leader of the revolutionaries, and unflinchingly devoted to its survival.
Mixed race trans man. Runs the surveillance tech watching over the bar; after seeing siblings and comrades murdered for peacefully protesting, Rivera has grown jaded with peaceful “due process.”
Latinx and non-binary. A third generation farmer and the leader of the Migrant Workers Party, Ernestine is a pacifist at heart who believes change can arise without violence.
White, role originally written as male but can be played as any gender depending on the actor. Somewhat younger than the revolutionaries, the cop has infiltrated their midst, and now the group must decide what to do with their captive.
A newscaster for Democracy Forever, Doreen is one of the few reporters who still challenge the autocratic government; serves in a pseudo-narrator role.
