ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Seeking performers for production of "Golden Threads". Please, see the details below. About the play: Fantasy, reality, and impossibility intertwine. A woman tries to break a curse on her family as six souls wrestles with the narratives they’ve built on hopes, fears, and desires. This Gothic fairytale mashup debuts at the Ottawa Fringe Festival this summer. Additional information: Auditions will last approximately 10-15 minutes. Auditioners will be provided with a monologue or scenes from the show ahead of time, to be read at the audition. When applying, please submit your name, a bit about you, what character(s) you would like to read for, and your preference for audition date/times. The team will then confirm your audition slot and provide you with a selection of scenes from the show. The subject line: “Golden Threads Audition”.

Sometimes called ARI, ELLA, EL, or THE LADY OF SHALOTT. Somewhat dreamy, she is the most in tune to the magic of the four human characters, the “crazy man” to Cress’ “straight man”. This is a large supporting role, second only to CRESSIDA.

PRINCEMale20-29 y.o.All ethnicities

Masculine. Representing the archetype of masculine leads - the charming lover, the betrayer, the father, the leader. This is a large supporting role.

WITCHFemale30-59 y.o.All ethnicities

Feminine. Representing all maternal figures, both positive and negative; a witch in a world that has forgotten magic. The witch is a powerful inhuman being - ancient, tired, ultimately tragic. This is a supporting role.

RABBITBoth genders18-56 y.o.All ethnicities

Mad Hatter with hints of Eldritch God. Nonhuman, surreal, but with their own internal logic. This is a supporting role.

CRESSIDAFemale20-29 y.o.All ethnicities

The following role is cast but directors are looking for understudies who can cover them: Feminine. Practical, but intense in her desires and her hunger for more in life. Does not believe in magic. Often called CRESS. This is the lead role of the show.
