Theater Audition for "The Moors" Play
ONLY LOCAL TALLENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Directors are currently in need of performers for production of "The Moors". More details are below. About the play: It is a brilliant, dark comedy about yearning, love and loss in the 1840s for women in a patriarchal society. Five plucky women navigate this landscape plus a dog and a moor hen. Think Bronte Sisters meet Sex and the City. Directed by Angela Henry, the play is the third in Theatre Inconnu’s season and opens September 17th. The play has brief violent and intimate elements and demands a diverse cast. Intimacy coaching will be provided. Silverman’s writing is both raw and poetic, anachronistic and current. The characters are complex. The staging is minimal. It is an actor’s play. Additional information: First Read-Thru in April, time TBA. Rehearsal Period: 3-4 times per week from the week of July 21 through to opening Sept 17th. Performance Dates: Sept 17 to Oct 4. Location: Victoria, BC. Requirements: - Prepare a two-minute monologue (comedic or dramatic); - Prepare a short song to be sung acapella; - Be ready to perform cold readings from the script.
