About the project: Francesca Johnson, a beautiful Italian woman who married an American soldier to flee war-ravaged Italy, looks forward to a rare four days alone on her Iowa farm when her family heads to the 1965 State Fair. When ruggedly handsome, National Geographic photographer, Robert Kincaid, pulls into her driveway seeking directions, though, what happens in those four days may very well alter the course of Francesca's life. Based on the best-selling novel and nominated for several Tonys, Bridges is a touching, fiercely romantic, and powerful testament to love and the question of “what if?” Rate: Paid, see the character description. Most rehearsals will be on weekday evenings (days off will be given) with an occasional weekend day. Please note that our rehearsal schedule is designed to accommodate other jobs and we can respect conflicts within reason. (Understudy only): with a luminous soprano. Solid wife, mother, and caretaker with dreams of a life she never experienced. Falls in love with Robert. Understudy may cover this and another role.
(Understudy only): with a fabulous tenor voice. Handsome, adventurous, creative and passionate. Falls in love with Francesca. Understudy may cover this and another role.
Tenor. Francesca’s no-nonsense husband. He’s a good man, if not the brightest, and does right by his wife and kids. $175/week
Flexible voice type. Robert’s ex-wife that appears in a flashback sequence. Swept off her feet by Robert, she learns the hard way that not all loves are meant to last forever. Guitar proficiency a plus, but not essential. Will sing backup in “Let Me Get Closer” and double as Chiara, a non-speaking role in a dream sequence. $150/week
To play 17, would prefer to cast a youth actor. Strong belt, moody, sick of farm life. $125/week.
To play 16, would prefer to cast a youth actor. Tenor, feisty, wants to be a grownup. $125/week.
Mezzo. Nosy next door neighbor who genuinely cares about the Johnsons and has a strong relationship with her husband, Charlie. $150/week
Baritone. Calm, rational, loves his wife Marge dearly. $150/week
Strong singer with country flare, will sing “State Road 21” and participate in the ensemble numbers. $150/week
Strong singer, will play the bartender and Paolo, a non-speaking role in a dream sequence. $150/week
Understudies receive $100/week per role they are understudying and $100 for each instance where they go on.
