Casting Call for a Short Play Festival
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Seeking performers for a Short Play Festival. Please, see the details below. Rate: As directors don’t receive any ticket receipts from the festival this is a non-paid role. However, as directors did with the play in New York, ALL potential prize money goes to the actors. Each of these roles is assigned 20% of the prize-money. That would mean $100 each - and that’s one hundred AMERICAN DOLLARS, no less. Addiitonal information: This call is for two smaller roles for an international online short plays festival. This same play, Third-Party, Blameless, premiered in a festival competition in New York (November 2024) where it won first prize. This is a great opportunity to appear in a US-based festival. The play has been juried into the FINAL of the Think Theatre’s ONLINE Short Play Festival 2025! This work, having been chosen from a selection of over 100 plays submitted, will compete in the final with 7 other plays. The play’s runtime is around thirteen minutes. I will be directing. The company recently took Third-Party, Blameless to New York, where having been juried into the semi-finals (from 240 plays submitted) of the SOOP Short Play Festival, in Pelham NY, it progressed to the final, and then won FIRST PRIZE! So this play has legs, and a good history so far, and this will be a chance to act online IN AN INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL without leaving the comfort of your home. There is also an award for best actor, as well as a first prize for best play. Schedule: will commence rehearsals (online) in the next week or so, with two (possibly more according to availability) rehearsals per week running till mid-February the play is recorded around mid-Feb it is then shown 3 times over the weekend Feb 28, Mar 1 and Mar 2 (but you don’t have to be present for the festival as the play will have been pre-recorded). Casting in Ottawa/Gatineau/the 613 initially to work with local talent and showcase Ottawan talent to an international audience. Notes: although this performance will be online, you will need to perform OFF-BOOK. You will be performing (and rehearsing) virtually.
