Description:

"Book of Will" stage play seeking cast. Please see more info below. About the project: "After the death of their friend and mentor, the two actors are determined to compile the First Folio and preserve the words that shaped their lives. They’ll just have to borrow, beg, and band together to get it done. Amidst the noise and color of Elizabethan London, this play finds an unforgettable true story of love, loss, and laughter, and sheds new light on a man you may think you know." Additional info: Casting can be diverse. Shakespeare is for everyone! A note about accents. As the Elizabethan sound is lost (and believed to be closer to modern American than modern British), directors will not be using British accents. Audition Requirements: Please prepare readings from the script. All sides (including callback sides) are attached. Rehearsal Schedule: Mon-Thursday, 7:30 to 10:00 and one weekend day,TBA. from March 31 – June 5) Theatre’s production of 2018’s The Book of Will by Lauren Gunderson will be the Ventura County premiere. Based on a true story, the friends of Shakespeare realize as they age that the Bard’s works will die with them. They resolve to hunt down all the plays and create the First Folio. Told with great humor and humanity, it touches on themes of friendship, legacy, and the importance of the Arts. The play is a love letter to Shakespeare, and to all of theatre. And while the men may drive the action, it’s the women who anchor it. The language is accessibly contemporary, although the show ends with a celebration of Shakespeare where all will take part recreating his amazing characters. Readings will be from the script. Note: Sides are very edited from the full script. Performances: Fridays & Saturdays at 8:00pm. Sundays at 2:00pm. Thursday June 12 at 8:00pm. Saturday June 21 & 28 at 2:00pm.
