Actors Needed for Upcoming Theatre Season
Auditions for Season 14. Looking for performers. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. See the breakdown below. About the project: 1. "To the Bon" Performances: March 12th-15th, 19th-22nd/ Synopsis: After twenty years, the tough but deeply caring Kelly has finally arranged to meet the daughter she gave up for adoption in high school. Geneva, who has grown up with a fair amount of privilege, has been ready to meet her mother for years. When she arrives at Kelly’s decidedly blue-collar Boston home with her roommate from Emerson, she’s a little unsure what to make of her birth mother, aunt, and brother. The getting-to-know-you is a little more oil and water than desired, and when Kelly reveals why she has asked Geneva to come, it is not clear if their newfound relationship will last beyond this evening. Overflowing with tough love and plenty of heartfelt laughs, To the Bone proves that kindness is more than a shared family trait. 2. "Queen" Performances: May 7th-10th, 14th-17th. Synopsis: Sanam Shah, a mathematician, and Ariel Spiegel, a biologist, are Ph.D. candidates and best friends working together to discover the cause of colony collapse disorder – the urgent, ecological crisis where bees are disappearing around the world in alarming numbers. Just as they are about to publish a career-defining new paper on the subject, calling for a ban on commercial pesticides, Sanam realizes that the numbers don’t add up to support their conclusion. Should she look the other way for the sake of environmental action, or should she stand by her scientific principles, even if it means ceding ground to an ecological disaster, jeopardizing her career, and losing her best friend? 3. "Much Ado About Nothing" Performances: 8/20-23rd, 27th-30th. Synopsis: The primary plot of Much Ado About Nothing turns on the courtship and scandal involving young Hero and her suitor, Claudio, but the witty war of words between Claudio’s friend Benedick and Hero’s cousin Beatrice often takes center stage. Set in Messina, the play begins as Don Pedro’s army returns after a victory. Benedick, a gentleman soldier, resumes a verbal duel with Beatrice, the niece of Messina’s governor, Leonato. Count Claudio is smitten by Leonato’s daughter, Hero. After Don Pedro woos her in disguise for Claudio, the two young lovers plan to marry in a week. To fill in the time until the wedding, Don Pedro and the others set about tricking Benedick and Beatrice into falling in love with each other. Meanwhile, Don Pedro’s disgruntled brother, Don John, plots to ruin Hero and halt her wedding.
