But love isn’t without its challenges, especially when it’s an interracial couple in the 1960s. Joanna Drayton, a young white woman raised by liberal parents, brings her fiancé, Dr. John Prentice—a Black, widowed physician with a wealth of life experience—home to dinner to meet her family. What unfolds is a heartstring-pulling fusion of love, ideals, and cultural divides as both sets of parents are forced to confront their own beliefs. Will love prevail in this lesson of acceptance?
