The company is holding auditions for "A Midsummer Night’s Dream", show and looking for performers, please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. About the project: The story follows the evening adventure of four young lovers, a group of vaudeville performers preparing a play for a royal wedding, and a forest of mythical fairies and sprites, all set against the theme of 1920’s New Orleans and Mardi Gras. Filled with love, laughter, and magic, the play has remained one of Shakespeare’s most popular works. Additional info: Rehearsals start Jan 13th and run Mon-Thurs from 7-10pm, with tech rehearsal Feb 22nd at 10am. -Show performs Feb 28th through March 23rd, Thurs-Sat at 7:30am and Sun at 2:00 pm. -Bring a headshot and resume, and familiarize yourself with one or two of the audition monologues provided before the audition. The king of the fairies, and lover of Titania with whom he is quarrelling. Feels spited by his lover and uses magic to get even with her, causing much of the confusion and trouble of the play
Queen of the fairies and Oberon’s lover. Headstrong and independent, she is placed under a spell that makes her fall in love with Bottom as an ass.
A magical sprite with a love of mischief. Mistakenly causes both Lysander and Demetrius to fall in love with Helena, yet revels in the chaos that’s been caused.
Daughter of Egeus. A wealthy youth in love with Lysander despite their class difference. Detests the idea of being married to Demetrius.
A young suitor in love with Hermia. Despite his meager status, he is kind, loving, and sincere. Accidentally falls in love with Helena due to Puck and Oberon’s magical meddling.
Polar opposite to Lysander, he is an arrogant and wealthy suitor. Something of a playboy, he scorns his former lover Helena to instead pursue Hermia.
Loyal friend to Hermia and desperately in love with Demetrius, despite his verbal abuse. To her bewilderment, both men fall in love with her, which she thinks is a cruel trick.
A dimwitted but cock-sure performer. Fancies himself a fantastic actor who can play any part, but is ultimately a ham. He is turned into an donkey, with which Titania falls in love.
Director of the play presented for Theseus and Hippolyta’s wedding day. At his wit’s end just trying to keep their play from falling apart.
One of the vaudeville actors in the play presented at the wedding. Much to his chagrin, he is forced to play the part of the female lover, Thisby.
Another actor in the vaudeville troop. Plays the part of Moonshine. Grows frustrated with the royals as they tries to explain how they represent the moon. May be doubled with the part of a Fairy depending on turn out.
A member of the vaudeville troop. Is forced to play “a wall” in the play, which they feels is a very ridiculous and thankless role to play (aka, having to play a tree in a school play). May double as Egeus and a fairy depending on turn out.
A member of the vaudeville troop. Plays the part of the Lion. Is a very timid performer, and overly worried people will mistake them for a real lion and attack them. May double as a fairy depending on turn out.
A royal living within the city of New Orleans with whom they are celebrating his wedding to Hippolyta. Well respected and his advice is sought by others.
The soon to be wife to Theseus with whom the city is celebrating the marriage of.
