"Pride and Prejudice" Stage Play in Search of Cast
Auditions for "Pride & Prejudice" play. Seeking actors. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Please see the breakdown below. Additional info: Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. All attempts will be made for you to read for your character(s) of interest. No callbacks. Character descriptions are below; ages are for context but not a requirement. All are welcome. Inclusive casting (aka colorblind casting). British accents are required for all roles, RP preferred. Multiple smaller roles will likely be played by the same actor. Rehearsal will be approx. 4 times a week, on weekday evenings or Sundays, schedule tbd based on cast conflicts. *** As per the original novel, Lydia elopes with a man significantly older than herself. In this production, there will be no kissing or bodily embracing between these characters. The maximum intimacy will be her holding onto the gentleman’s arm. If you are interested, please apply.

The sarcastic patriarch of the Bennet family. Though he loves his daughters, he is often an apathetic father who fails to provide a secure financial future for his wife and daughters. He has a cynical sense of humor that he uses to purposefully irritate his wife.
Elizabeth's foolish and unrestrained mother who is obsessed with finding husbands for her daughters. Because of her low breeding and often unbecoming behavior, Mrs. Bennet often repels the very suitors whom she tries to attract for her daughters.
(20) Our story’s heroine and the second eldest Bennet daughter. She is an intelligent and spirited young woman who possesses a keen wit and enjoys studying people's characters and delighting in anything ridiculous.
(22) A gentle and kind-hearted young woman who is Elizabeth's confidant and the oldest of the Bennet daughters. She falls in love with Bingley but is cautious about revealing the depth of her feelings for him.
(18) The pretentious third Bennet daughter. Bookish and pedantic, she prefers reading over socializing.
(28) A wealthy, proud gentleman, the master of Pemberley, who falls in love with Elizabeth and reveals a generous, thoughtful nature beneath his stiff and socially inept demeanor.
(22) A good-natured and considerably wealthy man who falls in love with Jane. He is genial but easily influenced by others, especially by his close friend Darcy.
Bingley's shallow and haughty sister, who befriends Jane and later snubs her. She attempts to attract Darcy's attentions and is jealously vindictive when Darcy is drawn to Elizabeth.
(27) Elizabeth's sensible and pragmatic friend who disappoints Elizabeth by marrying Mr. Collins for money and security at the fear of her continued spinsterhood.
(25, may cast up to 40s) Mr. Bennet's ridiculous cousin who will inherit Longbourn after Mr. Bennet's death. A sycophant who worships at the altar of Lady Catherine, his obsequious and foolish behavior is a source of both humor and offense.
A handsome and personable soldier who is discovered to be a fortune hunter. At first, he appears to be charming, eliciting great sympathy and affection, but his façade eventually cracks when his disreputable past is discovered. He eventually runs off with and is forced to marry Lydia.
Darcy's bossy, arrogant aunt, who dominates Mr. Collins and entertains hopes that her daughter will marry Darcy. Lady Catherine epitomizes class snobbery.
Darcy's well-mannered and affable cousin who is creates a friendship with Elizabeth but, as a second son of an Earl, openly discloses his needs to marry someone with money.
Bingley's brother-in law who does little more than play cards, nap, and drink heavily.
Bingley's snobbish eldest sister. Mrs. Hurst spends most of her time gossiping with Caroline and encouraging her pursuit of Darcy and the separation of Bingley and Jane.
The genial and somewhat excentric neighbor of the Bennets and father of Charlotte Lucas. He is obsessed with having been granted knighthood and delights in playing host and matchmaker.
Charlotte's mother who is in constant competition with Mrs. Bennet to be the highest standing lady of the community with the best settled children.
Mrs. Bennet's intelligent brother and successful London tradesman. His good judgment and practical nature provides guidance and a stable paternal presence for his two eldest nieces compared to their father.
Mrs. Bennet's sensible and cultivated sister-in-law who serves as a wise advisor and guide to Elizabeth Bennet and a surrogate parent to the elder Bennet sister. She and Mr. Gardiner are very happily married.

(15) The Bennet's selfish, brash, and irresponsible youngest daughter. Mrs. Bennet's favorite, she shocks the family by running away with Wickham. ***
(16) Darcy's meek but warmhearted sister. He brother has been her guardian for the majority of her life and her guilt over her near elopement has left her shy and full of self-doubt.
