The company is holding auditions for spring production of "Our Town" and looking for performers, please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Rate: There is no pay. Must be a good storyteller, able to command the stage and engage the audience. Loves people, easy going and grounded with a clear wisdom. The Stage Manager literally sets the stage, describes the action and introduces the actors. Steps in and out of the action as other characters: a minister, a drug store owner, a neighbor lady passing by.
Doctor and a family man. Pragmatic and logical.
Delivers the milk, leading the horse and wagon. Neighborly and good natured.
Mother of George and Rebecca. Strong love for her family. A true romantic. Strong connection with her son and a friend to Mrs. Webb.
(Female identifying) Loving, but firm mother of Emily and Wally. Busy and hardworking, but also loving and a good friend.
(Male identifying) Idealist and a romantic with his head in the clouds. Charming and goodhearted. His grief in the last act must be a stark and heartbreaking difference to his joyous and hopeful youth
(Female identifying) George’s younger sister. Strong sense of energy and wonder about the world. She and George have a lovely relationship.
(Male identifying) Younger brother to Emily.
(Female identifying) Love story between her and George is the spine of the play. Strong love of life and enthusiasm. Smart, but not always sure of herself
(Male identifying) A professor who provides historical context about Grover’s Corners in a bit of a frantic and academic manner
(Male identifying) Emily’s father. Highly educated and is the editor and owner of the only local newspaper. Has a strong connection with his daughter and a love for his wife.
(Female identifying) A citizen. Kind of snooty.
(Male identifying) A citizen. A bit dramatic. Likes to put on a show.
(Female identifying) A lover of culture.
(Male identifying) Leader of the church choir but has deep problems and a clear drinking problem. Bitter and short-tempered. He carries his bitterness into the afterlife.
(Female identifying) Sings in the choir and loves to spread gossip. Sharp and funny but also charming and lovable.
(Male identifying) There to keep the town safe, friendly and helpful, a kind person.
(Male identifying) Friends of George’s who taunt and tease him at his wedding.
(Male identifying) Emily’s cousin, who visits from out of town
(Male identifying) The undertaker in Grover’s Corners.
