About the project: By chance, Kris Kringle, an old man in a retirement home, gets a job working as Santa for Macy’s. Kris unleashes waves of good will with Macy’s customers and the commercial world of New York City by referring parents to other stores to find exactly the toy their child has asked for. Seen as deluded and dangerous by Macy’s vocational counselor, who plots to have Kris shanghaied to Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital, Kris ends up in a court competency hearing. Especially at stake is one little girl’s belief in Santa. In a dramatic decision, the court confirms Kris as the true Santa, allowing Susan and countless other children to experience the joy of childhood fantasy. Rate: Actors receive $150 stipends to help offset transportation costs associated with participating in productions. Additional info: Rehearsal Dates: October 1, 2024 – November 21, 2024 Typically, Monday through Thursday evenings from 7:00pm-10:00pm (prior to tech, minors are released by 9pm; tech week dismissal is no later than 11pm). Please also report any/all conflicts for Saturdays for potential rehearsals (actors may not be called for every rehearsal). All of the following days are REQUIRED for participation, in addition to the performance dates: November 16 and/or 17 (one 10/12 hour day OR two shorter days for tech weekend TBD based on production team scheduling; standard breaks included and meal provided if more than five hours) November 18-21: Tech Week (6:30-11p max) Performances: November 22-December 15, 2024 (see “Performance Dates” for more details) December 15: Strike (following the closing performance) Performance Dates: November 22 – December 15, 2024 for a total of 16 performances (Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays curtain is at 8:00pm, Sunday curtain is at 2:00pm.
