Jason Jones is an all-star pro quarterback at the top of his game. All of Jason’s dreams have seemingly come true, including his marriage to his high school sweetheart and the imminent birth of his first child, a son. Falling apart at the realization of becoming a father, Jason creates further tension by lashing out at his wife Brie and seeking out his birth father whom he never had the relationship with that he desired. In search of the answers he can’t continue living without, Jason sets out on a "destructively healing" journey to know his father and save his family while potentially destroying another.

Lead. Jason's biological father and owner of "Poor Calvin's", the primary location of the play. Calvin initially thinks he's having a coincidental conversation with a patron at his lounge. Supporting. Jason's mother is a woman with a storied past that has caught up to her in the form of undiagnosed bipolar schizophrenia. Susie's love for Calvin could only ever become so much, but her love for Jason knew no bounds. -Singer, battles her personal demons while trying to prioritize motherhood, desperate for love. Actress should be able to understand and appreciate the psyche of the high-functioning mentally ill and embody the mannerisms of those battling within. Compensation: $100
Supporting. Calvin's current wife. Anne has been the secret catalyst to keeping Jason from his father for years. Her own generational trauma of seeing her mother hurt and abused led her to jump head first into self-preservation mode, even if it meant breaking the heart of a child who only wanted his father. -Jaded, hurt, angry, misguided. Protecting her own interests are at the forefront of her drive, even though she'd tell you she was protecting her family if you'd ask her. Compensation: $100
Supporting. Calvin's daughter and Jason's sister. Recently graduated school as a psychiatrist, but her true passion, are the arts. She has convinced her father to allow her to host showcases for local poets, singers, etc., in the lounge in order to provide a showcase for "true therapy". She becomes the actual glue that holds the family together. -Witty, comedic, bold, loving. Born to be a nurturer. Compensation: $100, equal share in 10% of ticket sales.
Supporting. Quick on his feet and a natural-born businessman, CJ is who Calvin always knew as his first-born son. CJ wants nothing more than to make "Poor Calvin's" a national chain and possesses the acumen to do so but doesn't truly understand the purpose the lounge serves. -Professional, encouraged, emotional. Compensation: $100
Supporting. Brie's mother who acts as a medium for Brie to work through her own healing process. -Bold, Has a "Phylicia Rashad"-type presence. Compensation: $100
Must possess a singing ability. Experience singing with a church praise team, glee club or choir is preferred. Base-level knowledge of modern gospel music is appreciated. Team members must be coachable and willing to learn & experiment creatively. Outgoing, fun and eager to perform theatrically in front of a live/broadcasted audience.
