About the project: “Chicago” is a musical set in the roaring twenties, centered around two rival vaudevillian murderesses, Velma Kelly and Roxie Hart, who are both locked up in the Cook County Jail awaiting trial. The story explores their manipulation of the media and justice system to gain fame and escape punishment, all while showcasing the corruption and sensationalism of the criminal justice system and celebrity culture. With catchy songs and dazzling choreography, “Chicago” satirically examines themes of fame, greed, and the blurred lines between innocence and guilt. Rate: No Pay Additional info: Rehearsals Begin: August 12, 2024 Run/Shoot: October 2, 2024 – October 5, 2024 Attendance will be expected at Dance Auditions if you are interested in a lead/supporting role. For vocal auditions, please prepare 32 measures (approx. 1 min 30 secs). from a Classical Style Musical from the 1960’s or earlier and be prepared to cold read from the script.
