Non-Equity actors for roles in "For Which it Stands". ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Please see the details below. About the project: "New York has been hit by the worst hurricane in US history. Under pressure, the mayor forms a Citizens’ Assembly to help determine how to spend $109 billion on recovery and addressing the worsening climate crisis. A young student from the Bronx, Dawn, who lost her mother to the storm is one of 100 New Yorkers selected by lottery to deliberate and determine the course of her city’s future. With Wall Street’s biggest players and a new radical climate group trying to influence the process, the eyes of the world watch as the foremost city takes center stage in the struggle for our democracy and planet. This interactive, original work will combine projections and stagecraft, real New York struggles and initiatives, music, poetry and more to help our city dream of possibilities for a better world. With civil, educational, grassroots, and climate science partners, the show will finish with a mini-Assembly with the audience to help advance the causes of direct democracy and ambitious climate policy NOW." Rate: Ensemble: $500-1000 (fewer rehearsals) Leads: $1,000-2,500 *pay window dependent on fundraising, known by callbacks. (cis femme, South American descent) – Lead. A first generation American from the Bronx. CUNY student. Rocked by the loss of her mother, her rock, in Hurricane Melvin, she is thrust into being the sole provider for her aging and ailing grandmother. Lost, demoralized, but deeply driven without realizing it, compassionate, quiet sometimes to a fault but able to say the right thing at just the right time, she is bound to find her way.

(male identifying) – Lead. The politician we always end up voting for. Alpha. Knows how to read from a prompter, and knows how to go off it. Behind closed doors he is as dismissive and curt with people below him as he is pressured by a cosmos of people above him. Up for re-election, determined to make the disaster his biggest badge of honor, he forms the Citizens’ Assembly to appease mass protests while also needing to keep his donors happy.

(femme identifying) – Lead. The head of the Citizens’ Assembly. A lawyer turned advocate for direct democracy, internally driven by the ticking clock of climate change, externally composed as chiseled stone. Could very much have the mayor’s office or more in her future. Has striven towards this Citizens’ Assembly for 13 years and will not waste it.

(femme identifying) – Lead. Assembly member from Brooklyn. Climate organizer. Grew up privileged enough to need some humility. One of the early leaders of the Assembly, she is quick to make enemies and friends. Ends up in romance with Dawn, and deep trouble with a radical activist group.

(cis male) – Ensemble. CEO of BlackRock. Measured. Scary. Gets more directly involved with politics than normal because of massive relief funds packages and new city initiatives. Will double as other, smaller roles.

(mid 60’s - 70’s, cis femme, South American) – Ensemble. Migrated from Brazil, part of the labor movements with Lula, came to the States for physical and economic safety with her daughter. Knows that she must keep Dawn going. Spanish speaking necessary. Will double as other roles.

(male identifying) – Ensemble. Assembly member from Queens. Small business owner. Does not like to rush into things, sometimes stubborn. Concerned for his community. Will double as other roles.

(femme identifying) – Ensemble. Assembly member from Manhattan. Old New York money. Democrat, detached. “Knows” about climate change but does not understand the urgency. Will double as other roles.
