Performers Needed for Theatre Audition "As You Like It"
Open auditions for "As You Like It" play. Seeking cast. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. See the breakdown below. About the project: A pastoral comedy with major themes of love, gender, sexuality, and injustice. As You Like It follows its heroine Rosalind as she flees persecution in her uncle's court, accompanied by her cousin Celia to find safety and, eventually, love, in the Forest of Arden. In the forest, they encounter a variety of memorable characters, notably the melancholy traveler Jaques, who speaks one of Shakespeare's most famous speeches ("All the world's a stage") and provides a sharp contrast to the other characters in the play, always observing and disputing the hardships of life in the country. Rate: This is a non-paid opportunity. Additional info: What to Prepare: Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Headshots and resumes are encouraged but not required. Due to some roles appearing only once, actors may be double cast. Actors cast as any of the lovers (Rosalind & Orlando, Celia & Oliver, Touchstone & Audrey, Silvus & Phebe) must be comfortable with romantic touch and kissing. Rehearsals: The exact rehearsal schedule is to be determined, but rehearsals are usually 2-3 days per week, mostly weekday nights, but there may be rehearsals on Saturdays in the daytime and/or Sundays in the evening. Weekday evening rehearsals generally begin at 7 p.m. and can last as late as 10 p.m. (possibly later during tech week) Sunday evening rehearsals generally begin at 6 p.m. and can last as late as 10 p.m. There will be a total of approximately 20-25 rehearsals for this production.
