Auditions for Irving Berlin's "White Christmas". Seeking cast. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Please see the breakdown below. About the project: Based on the beloved, timeless film, this heartwarming musical adaptation features 17 Irving Berlin songs and a book by David Ives and Paul Blake. Veterans Bob Wallace and Phil Davis have a successful song-and-dance act after World War II. With romance in mind, the two follow a duo of beautiful singing sisters en route to their Christmas show at a Vermont lodge, which just happens to be owned by Bob and Phil’s former army commander. With a dazzling score featuring well-known standards including “Blue Skies,” “I Love A Piano,” “How Deep Is the Ocean” and the perennial title song, White Christmas is an uplifting, wholesome musical that will delight audiences of all ages. Rate: Lead roles and adult ensemble members will receive a small travel stipend. Additional info: This is a non-equity, community theater production. Dancers are strongly encouraged to participate. An accompanist will not be provided so be sure to have your music with you on a device. Bluetooth capabilities and an aux cord will be available. AUDITIONS: Prepare a ballad or up-tempo song from the traditional musical theater era. 16-32 bars or 1-1/2 minutes is enough. CALLBACKS: July 18, 6:00-9:30pm, by invitation only. Male presenting: vocal range: C3-A4. Bob Wallace is a major singing star and he is the sensible, driving business force behind the successful song and dance duo, Wallace and Davies. He formed this duo with his friend and fellow entertainer, Phil Davies. Bob is good friends with Phil, forming their friendship in the US army, and the two support each other completely. Bob is comfortable with his fame and is born to lead the song and dance troupe he recruits at The Columbia Inn.

Phil DavisBoth genders26-35 y.o.All ethnicities

Male presenting, vocal range: A2-F4. Phil Davis served as a soldier in the US army along with Bob Wallace and under the leadership of General Henry Waverly. He formed a strong bond with Bob during their time in the army and the pair now have a successful song and dance act, Wallace and Davis. Phil is the stronger dancer of the two, with tap solos. He is kind, sociable and flirtatious, enjoying making people laugh and forget their worries.

Betty HaynesBoth genders25-29 y.o.All ethnicities

Female presenting, vocal range: A3-F5. Betty is Judy’s older sister and the one half of the up and coming song and dance duo, The Haynes Sisters. Although she is ambitious and would like to be a star in her own right, she is still hesitant to take the spotlight. This is largely due to her loyalty and care for Judy, as she is devoted to her and reluctant to leave her sister to fend for herself.

Judy HaynesBoth genders20-24 y.o.All ethnicities

Female presenting, vocal range: G3-E5. Judy is the younger sister of Betty and one half of the song and dance duo, The Haynes Sisters. She is the stronger dancer of the two, and must be a talented tap dancer. In her early twenties, she is cute, adorable and flirtatious, making her popular with the men. Judy embarks on a relationship with Phil Davis, one half of the song and dance duo, Wallace and Davis. She schemes with Phil to get his business partner, Bob Wallace.

General Henry WaverlyBoth genders56-65 y.o.All ethnicities

Male presenting. At the beginning of the show, General Waverly is shown to be retiring from the US army with an injury to the leg. Ten years later, he owns an inn in Vermont, but business is struggling due to the lack of snow. However, Waverly has been hidden from many of the truths by his manager, Martha and granddaughter, Susan, and is preoccupied with thoughts of getting back into the army, despite his age. He is pleased to be reunited with his former soldier, Bob Wallace and Phil Davis.

Martha WatsonBoth genders46-65 y.o.All ethnicities

Female presenting, vocal range: G3-D5. Martha is General Waverly’s housekeeper at The Columbia Inn. She is a retired Broadway performer and, although her professional career has faded, her star personality has remained. She is witty and wise-cracking with a dry sense of humor. However, she is also a busybody and loves to meddle in the business of others. Martha is determined to run the General’s life, despite his objections and lack of knowledge about Inn’s business affairs. Has a big heart.

Ralph SheldrakeBoth genders35-39 y.o.All ethnicities

Male presenting. Ralph is an ex-army buddy of Bob Wallace and Phil Davis. He is now a television executive in New York City, working on the Ed Sullivan Show. He is a class clown and loves to make people laugh. The role of Ralph Sheldrake is usually doubled with other ensemble roles.

Female presenting. Rita and her friend Rhoda are the star show girls of Bob Wallace and Phil Davis. She is fun, sexy and flirtatious, but Rita is not the brightest spark. This role is a featured dancer.
