About the project: SYNOPSIS: The Kingdom of Terestea faces imminent destruction due to the royal family’s misguided taking of the Phoenix Crystal, a magical gem that once gave life and fertility to their land. Now, Robin Mander along with his brother, Jay, seek to right the wrongs of the past and save their homeland. Meanwhile, Princess and heir to the throne, Natalia Terra must reconcile with her family’s choices and decide what kind of leader she will be. Featuring a score rooted in a folk-rock style, this original fantasy adventure asks its characters, as well as its audience, what they would be willing to sacrifice for the world they wish to create. Rate: $100 stipend for the project. Additional info: Rehearsals: on/about July 29th, 2024 Directors expect about 20 hours of rehearsal in the two weeks leading up to the performance on August 13th, with a schedule to be set based on cast availability. PREPARATION: Please prepare a 1-minute selection of a folk-rock song. Some artists to look at for inspiration: Noah Kahan, Olivia Rodrigo, Hozier, Lizzie McAlpine, etc. Non-musical theatre songs are highly encouraged, but not mandatory. Directors are especially seeking artists with unique and unusual voices. When applying, please include the role you feel most aligns with you, regardless of ethnicity, gender, or disability. Robin’s younger brother. Strong spirited, but doesn’t always think things through. Bari-tenor.
She/they. Apprentice to the Commander of the Royal Guard. Strong, independent, and yet very empathetic. Mezzo-soprano with a rock sensability.
35+. Commander of the Royal Guard. Brass, yet devoted to those he serves. Also plays Arthur at ages 20-25. Baritone.
A revolutionary and a wild card. Always chooses the many over the few. Strong dancer. Mezzo-soprano, bordering on contralto.
King of Terestea. Compassionate. Refuses to believe he can’t help everyone. Bass/baritone.
Queen of Terestea. Logical and intelligent, almost to a fault. Soprano.
