Seeking Dancers and Performers for Children’s Theater Shows

ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. The theater company is looking to cast non-equity performers specifically for a few upcoming projects but would love to see anyone who has a passion and interest in theater and dance for young audiences even if neither of the below projects work with their schedule. Please, see the details below. Additional information: Specific upcoming projects: Spring New Work Workshop: They are looking for 3 dancers who act and/or actors who can move for a workshop of a new children’s dance/theatre show. The contract will be for approximately 40 hours within a 2-week period including development and some workshop/performances in schools. A full production will likely be part of our 2024/2025 season. Summer Tour: Looking for performers to be part of the summer tour. This can be full time performing work during the summer, but the schedule is flexible and can vary week to week. Rehearsals: one weekend day in early June, and then beginning at the end of June (likely June 27th). Show runs through the summer until Labor Day. Qualifications: Post Secondary Degree or Diploma in Theater or equivalent experience; Desire to perform interactive, touring theater/dance for young audiences and families; Love of working with kids of all ages (they perform for young audiences but they also mentor teen performers); Valid Driver’s license; This audition will run in two parts – dance/movement call and small group workshop style auditions. You can apply to be included in both parts, or just one- depending on your interests/abilities. When applying, please submit your resume, photo and a note with the following information: - Availability for summer tour dates (end of June start until September long weekend) and/or spring workshop (late May); - Experience in TYA and/or dance for young audiences and/or why you would like to work with that demographic; - Whether you would like to attend the theater auditions, dance call or both; - Eligible for Canada Summer Jobs Funding (Under 30 yrs old, be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment). Please note: you do not need to be under 30 to attend auditions.
