Theatre Casting Call for "The Merry Wives of Windsor"
Looking to cast male and female talent for the "The Merry Wives of Windsor" play. Please see more details below. About the project: This Shakespearean comedy is a silly, slapstick-type romp. Filled with an array of colorful characters and funny pranks. We will be doing 1950's/60's inspired colorful costuming, music, and playing up the sitcom-like situations and comedic bits within this show. This play is written mostly in prose, which, for those who may be new to Shakespeare, means you do not need to stress about the rules of understanding verse! If you are a great character actor looking to get your feet wet with Shakespeare, this is the perfect show for you! And for those with more experience, this is a fun piece to play in. All are welcome to audition. Short Summary: Falstaff decides to fix his financial woe by seducing the wives of two wealthy merchants. The wives find he sent them identical letters and take revenge by playing tricks on Falstaff when he comes calling. With the help of their husbands and friends, the wives play one last trick in the woods to put Falstaff's mischief to an end.
