Boston’s Colonial Theatre is host to the opening night performance of a new musical. When the leading lady mysteriously dies on stage the entire cast & crew are suspects. Enter a local detective, who just happens to be a musical theatre fan! Packed with glorious tunes and a witty, charming script filled with delightful characters, CURTAINS is a hilarious journey for both performers and the audience. Additional info: Performance Dates: Friday 1/19 @ 7:00pm Saturday 1/20 @ 7:00pm Sunday 1/21 @ 3:00pm Friday 1/26 @ 7:00pm Saturday 1/27 @ 7:00pm Sunday 1/28 @ 3:00pm Please bring a calendar of all conflicts to the audition. No tech week or performance conflicts will be considered. Auditions will consist of a vocal audition and a brief and simple dance call. Cold readings from the script may also be requested at the director’s discretion Vocal audition - please prepare a song in the style of the show (you may choose a song from the show, but this is not encouraged). An accompanist will be on hand, but tracks can be accommodated as well. Dance call - Auditioners will be taught a short movement routine to assess ability. Please bring clothes and shoes in which you can comfortably move. Character or dance shoes preferred.

Baritenor – Local detective who is deceptively light on his feet. Must have excellent comic timing and perform with a believable thick Boston accent.
Soprano – Naïve ingenue. Must have good comic timing.
Mezzo-Soprano - Songwriter turned lead. Genuine but seasoned. Strong dancer.
Mezzo-Soprano – Sassy and brassy producer. Comedic singing role.
Baritenor – Good looking and soulful composer. Charming ladies’ man.
Baritenor – Choreographer. Strong dancer
Baritone – The director…may be British. Flamboyant with dry sarcastic wit.
Baritone - The General Manager. Gruff, all business-man. Danny Devito type.
Soprano – Young and ambitious chorus girl. Very strong dancer.
Baritone/Alto - The Conductor
Non singing – Theatre critic
Non singing - The stage manager
Non Singing – The Producer
Cameo appearance. Fading Hollywood star. A diva, who has no right to be one, she is a terrible singer and actress who stars in the show-within-the-show and gets murdered on its opening night.
