Would-be actor turned would-be detective. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
Harry’s paid-by-the-hour assistant. Once a very famous actor, he let a dependence on alcohol drag him down into the gutter. He credits Harry’s faith in him with giving him the courage to dry out.
A streetwise cop. On the surface, Harry is a thorn in the side of Foster. Deep down, Foster actually grudgingly likes Harry— although he’ll never admit it.
(Really Alan Banister) – Marko the Magnificent. A successful magician known for his theatrical and death-defying acts.
A young reporter. Nora has a nose for news and is hoping this story will be her big break.
A two-bit hoodlum. Marko owed him money and he intends to collect!
The magician’s lovely assistant. She is distraught about Marko’s death and feels responsible. Or is it all an act?
Marko’s manager. He was always supportive of Marko and now he’s supportive of Marko’s wife. Or is it more than that?
The maid. There’s something odd about Blanche. And she has an unusual love of sharp objects.
The family doctor. Doc is a good soul and a good friend to the Banisters. What motive could he possibly have?
Marko’s wife. Rose plays the grieving widow to perfection. Could she be sincere in her mourning, or does she just enjoy crying on Douglas Bailey’s shoulder?
The butler. There is something sinister and creepy about Digby. He has an unspoken connection with Blanche. Could they be in cahoots?
