Performers Required for "Crab Mentality" Play
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. The production of "Crab Mentality" is currently in search of performers. More details are below. About the project: STORY: Five people find themselves on an unusual island with no memory of themselves or each other. With no purpose and no plans, they find meaning in a crab that sits immobile at the centre of the beach. Things quickly spiral out of control as their devotion to Crab grows to cult worship. Crab Mentality is a new absurdist dark comedy that explores how belief systems develop and evolve around the individuals who create them. Rate: Non-union, Profit-share. Additional information: Callbacks for selected applicants take place on February 7th & 8th in Toronto, Ontario. Rehearsals begin March 1st and run part-time to April 26th, 2023. Please prepare sides for the characters whom you are auditioning for. Memorization is not required, but they encourage you to familiarize yourself with the sides as much as possible before your audition. Please see the sides attached. If interested, please apply.

Male identifying. Wants what's best for the greater community, yet is also fascinated with what lies in the “Coldlands” beyond the safety of the group. Places his faith in systems that provide logical answers to his philosophical questions.
Female identifying. A devout follower of Crab. Scared and confused, she turns towards others for guidance and is easily manipulated.
Female identifying. Headstrong and defiant. Skeptical of Crab and focused on survival, she becomes a social outcast and scapegoat.
Male identifying. Manipulative and predatory. He claims to be able to speak to Crab and experiences full body possession.
