Amazon MGM Studios is now one of the largest employers of performers in the world. Prime Video carries Fallout, Reacher, The Boys universe, The Rings of Power and The Summer I Turned Pretty; the studio is releasing at least fifteen films a year into theaters; and it controls the James Bond franchise. All of that is cast, all year, across several countries.
What confuses people searching for Amazon Prime auditions is that there is no single place to apply — but there is also not nowhere. The honest answer splits cleanly in two, and almost no guide makes the split:
- Scripted — series and films — is cast by independent casting directors hired per project. There is no Amazon inbox. You reach these roles the way working actors do.
- Unscripted — the competition series — has run genuine Amazon-branded public application sites that anyone can apply through directly, with no agent, no credits and no fee.
This guide covers both routes, who does the actual casting, what the roles pay in 2026, where Amazon productions film and therefore where they hire, and how to recognize the scams that use Amazon's name.

Does Amazon hold its own casting calls?
For scripted work, no. Amazon MGM Studios employs in-house casting executives — a head of series casting for Prime Video, casting executives based at the Culver City campus — but their job is to oversee and approve, not to read submissions from the public. The actual casting of a Prime Video series is done by an independent casting director hired by that production.
Fallout is the clearest documented example: the series has been cast by John Papsidera's office, and when the production needed large volumes of background performers it posted through professional casting channels like any other show.
There is no Amazon casting department you can submit to. When you see an "Amazon Prime casting call," you are almost always looking at a casting director or a background casting company hiring for a production that Amazon happens to be financing.
That is not a brush-off. It means the route is the ordinary professional one: a complete casting profile, consistent submissions to open acting casting calls, self-tapes that follow instructions, and — for series-regular work — an agent.
The exception: Amazon's unscripted shows do take public applications
This is the part worth knowing, because it is genuinely open and most people searching for Amazon auditions never find it.
Amazon's unscripted division expanded sharply in 2026 under new leadership brought in from Netflix's unscripted team, and its competition formats cast the way reality shows have always cast: through a public application site run by the production company, open to anyone who fits the criteria.
Beast Games
The MrBeast competition series casts through a dedicated application page on its own site. The casting for its third season ran in early 2026, and the published requirements give you an accurate picture of what these applications ask for:
- A video of roughly one minute, plus photos
- 18 or over
- A passport valid well beyond the shoot window
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally
- Six consecutive weeks of genuine availability
The Fallout competition series
Amazon announced an unscripted competition series set in the Fallout universe, produced by Studio Lambert with Kilter Films and Bethesda, and it ran casting through a dedicated site with an application portal. Its published requirements were stricter still: 21 or over, a valid passport, and three clear weeks of availability.
Casting windows open and close. Both of the applications above ran in 2026 and may not be accepting today. Check the show's own official site for a live window before you spend time on an application — and never apply through a third party that charges you to submit to either one.
What unscripted casting is actually looking for
Nothing you can rehearse. Competition casting producers are assessing whether you are watchable, whether you are honest on camera, and whether you have a specific point of view that survives six weeks of filming. Acting ability is not an advantage here and can read as a liability. Over-produced application videos consistently do worse than someone talking plainly to a phone.
Beyond Amazon's own formats, unscripted casting companies post constantly for streaming competition and docuseries projects — browse reality TV casting calls.
What Amazon roles are realistically available?
Background and extras
By far the most accessible category, and the one that actually puts you on a Prime Video set. Amazon productions hire background locally wherever they shoot, through background casting companies rather than through Amazon. The company varies by market: The Summer I Turned Pretty movie used Tona B. Dahlquist Casting for its Wilmington, North Carolina shoot; the Amazon series The Challenger has been casting Atlanta background through Casting TaylorMade. No experience, no agent and no audition required. See open extras casting calls.
Co-stars, guest stars and day players
Scripted series cast small speaking roles continuously, and these are genuinely reachable for actors with modest credits — especially on productions shooting outside Los Angeles, where the local pool is smaller and casting directors are actively looking for new faces. A one-day co-star role on a Prime Video series pays $1,283 at scale.
Unscripted contestants
Covered above. No credits needed, and the requirements are about availability and personality rather than experience.
Voice-over and animation
Prime Video carries a substantial animation slate, and animation casts voices through voice casting directors and agents. See voice acting auditions.
Stunt, specialty and skilled performers
Action-heavy Amazon titles — the Fallout and The Boys universes, Reacher, Tomb Raider — create steady demand for stunt-capable performers, trained fighters, riders, drivers and people with verifiable physical skills. Specialty background pays above general background and competes against far fewer applicants.
What do Amazon productions pay in 2026?
Amazon MGM productions of any meaningful budget are SAG-AFTRA signatory productions, which means minimums are set by contract rather than negotiated. These are the rates in effect from 1 July 2026 under the 2026 agreement, which members ratified in June 2026 and which runs through June 2030 with 3% increases each July:
- Background actor — $231 per 8 hours. Special ability background $241; stand-ins and photo doubles $270.
- Day performer — $1,283 per day.
- Three-day performer (television) — $3,252.
- Weekly performer — $4,456 per week.
- Series regular, one-hour drama (13 episodes guaranteed) — $5,361 per week. This is the floor; leads negotiate far above it.
- Non-union background — varies by market. Amazon's Atlanta production The Challenger has been posting background at around $182 for a 12-hour day.
Three things in the 2026 agreement that specifically affect streaming work
- Union background slots increased on television. The covered background count rose from 25 to 26 per day. Everyone hired beyond the covered count can be non-union — which is exactly how non-union performers end up on Amazon sets.
- The 85-performer theatrical background cap now extends to high-budget streaming features of $30 million or more running 85 minutes or longer. On Amazon's larger streaming features, that is a meaningfully bigger pool of union background days.
- A new $35 bump is owed for extensive hair or makeup styling instructions, and there is a $5 late-payment fee per day. Small money individually; most background performers never claim either.
Always confirm the specific rate in your booking paperwork before the shoot day.

Where does Amazon film, and where does it hire?
Local hires are cheaper than flying performers in, so where Amazon shoots decides where the work is.
Los Angeles and Culver City
Amazon's studio base. The company anchors a large campus at The Culver Studios and operates its own stages nearby, including a virtual production stage built around a large LED volume. Fallout moved its third season production to the Los Angeles area, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith restarted there under California's expanded film tax credit. LA also remains where the voice-over work and the great majority of casting offices sit. See casting calls in Los Angeles and extras work in LA.
Toronto
Amazon holds an exclusive long-term lease on five stages at Pinewood Toronto Studios. Reacher shot its fifth season there and across southern Ontario through 2026, and the Boys prequel Vought Rising shot there as well. If you have the right to work in Canada, Toronto is one of the densest Amazon markets anywhere.
Atlanta
The Challenger is shooting at Assembly Studios in Doraville on a run that extends into 2027 — a long production in a market where volume is otherwise down, which makes it one of the better background opportunities in Georgia right now. See casting calls in Atlanta and Atlanta extras casting.
Wilmington, North Carolina
The Summer I Turned Pretty has shot in and around Wilmington, hiring local background through a regional casting company. Smaller markets like this one are consistently the best odds-per-applicant in the business.
The United Kingdom
Amazon leases nine stages at Shepperton Studios and bought Bray Studios outright. The Rings of Power, Tomb Raider and the Bond franchise all sit in the UK production base. These productions hire locally, so they matter if you already have the right to work there.

What about James Bond?
Amazon MGM took creative control of the James Bond franchise in 2025. Bond 26 has a director, a writer, producers and a casting director attached, and Amazon confirmed publicly in 2026 that the search for the next Bond was underway, adding that it would not comment further during casting.
What that means for you is simple and worth stating plainly: there is no open Bond audition. A role of that profile is cast by invitation through a casting director working agent relationships, and the studio has been explicit that it is doing this quietly. Any message offering you a Bond audition — or an audition for any flagship title — is fake. The FTC's December 2025 scam alert describes exactly this tactic: scammers name a real, recognizable title because recognition lowers your guard.
How to make a self-tape that gets watched
Self-tapes are the default first round on virtually every Amazon scripted project. Casting directors watch hundreds per role, and a large share get cut for technical reasons before anyone assesses the performance.
- Framing: the notice specifies it — close-up, mid-chest, waist-up or cowboy. Shoot the scene as directed; film your slate horizontally.
- Lighting: even light on your face. No bright window behind you.
- Background: plain, contrasting with your hair and skin. Nothing busy.
- Sound: quiet room, AC off, phone silenced. Bad audio gets a tape closed faster than bad acting.
- Slate: relaxed and natural, exactly as the notice asks — some want you as yourself, some in character.
- File name: precisely the convention given. Nothing irritates a casting office faster than renaming three hundred files by hand.
For unscripted applications the bar is deliberately different: one short video, minimal production, talking plainly to the camera. Over-editing works against you.
How to spot a fake Amazon casting call
You never pay to audition or to be considered for a role. Not an application fee, not a "processing fee", not a mandatory photo shoot, not a workshop that promises a callback.
Amazon has published its own warning about people impersonating Prime Video representatives — offering fake content deals and approval letters, operating lookalike domains, and asking for processing fees. The pattern generalizes to casting.
- Unexpected texts or DMs offering an audition for a named Prime Video title. Legitimate casting does not cold-text strangers.
- Lookalike domains. Check the sending address character by character. Scam operations register domains one hyphen away from the real thing.
- Any request for money — test shoots, headshot packages, classes, travel or visa costs paid up front.
- Impersonation of real casting directors. This is now common enough that the Casting Society has warned about it directly, including fake social accounts using real casting directors' names and asking applicants to send money for travel.
- Requests for bank details, Social Security number or identity documents before you have a signed booking with a named production and payroll company.
- Guaranteed roles. Nobody can guarantee you a part.
Verify before you engage: search the casting director's name alongside "scam" or "complaint", confirm the project exists, and check whether the role appears on an established casting platform. Report suspected scams at ReportFraud.ftc.gov, forward scam texts to 7726, and contact SAG-AFTRA if the union's name is invoked.

How To
Decide Which of the Two Routes You Are Actually On
Amazon casting splits in two, and the mistake most applicants make is trying to use one route’s method on the other. If you want a scripted role — a co-star, a guest star, background on a Prime Video series — you are entering an ordinary professional casting process run by an independent casting director, and your assets are a profile, a headshot and a self-tape. If you want to be a contestant on one of Amazon’s unscripted competition series, you are applying through that show’s own public portal, and what matters is availability, a passport and being watchable on camera. Pick the one that matches what you actually want before you do anything else.
- 1Build a Casting Profile That Survives a FilterCasting directors search databases before they read submissions, and incomplete profiles never surface. Add current headshots from more than one angle, accurate height, playable age range and sizes, your union status, your real location, a short honest bio, every verifiable skill — driving, riding, fighting, languages, instruments, sports — and a reel if you have one. Specialty skills matter disproportionately on Amazon’s action-heavy slate.Pro Tip: List the skills you could demonstrate on a set tomorrow, not the ones you did once at school. Being caught out on a claimed skill ends the relationship with that casting office.
- 2Submit Consistently, and Target Where Amazon Is Actually ShootingFilter casting calls by category and by your city, read the full breakdown including shoot dates before applying, and apply steadily rather than in bursts. Pay attention to geography: Amazon hires background and small roles locally in Los Angeles, Toronto, Atlanta, Wilmington and the UK, and the smaller those markets are, the better your odds per application.Pro Tip: Background work is the one category with no audition and no experience requirement. It is the fastest legitimate way onto a Prime Video set, and three days of union background work makes you SAG-AFTRA eligible.
- 3Follow the Tape Instructions Exactly, or Apply to Unscripted PlainlyFor scripted roles, the framing, length, slate format, file naming convention and deadline are all specified in the notice, and each one is a reason tapes get discarded unwatched. Get the technical side right and your performance gets seen. For unscripted applications, do the opposite of polish: one short video, good light, talking straight to the camera as yourself. Check the show’s official site for an open application window, and make sure you genuinely have the passport and the consecutive weeks free before you apply.Pro Tip: Never pay anyone to submit you to an Amazon show, and never apply to a Beast Games or Fallout Shelter casting through a third-party site that charges. The official portals are free.
