ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Casting for actors for DRAWING, a romantic comedy short film. See the details below. About the project: The film follows a university senior's (Clive) journey to self acceptance. After meeting a colourful artist (Zara), Clive must learn to socialize, dance, and accept himself, all before graduating in 5 weeks. Rate: Non-Union. Unpaid (Meals, Transportation, and Craft Services Provided). Additional information: Callbacks date and format: TBD/Zoom. Rehearsal: TBD. Shooting Date: Oct. 24th. Location: Waterloo, Ontario (Specifics TBD). Important Note: While this is a live-action short film, both Clive and Zara will be animated based on the actors performances. Also important to understand, the actors’ physical performance will NOT be covered up, instead things like facial expressions, costumes, and movements will be accentuated in the animation. Lead. Clive is a shy, overthinking soccer player who secretly enjoys learning to dance. Publicly he tries to act nonchalant, he usually feels abnormally lame compared to his peers, that is until he meets Zara.
Lead. Zara is an outgoing, confident artist working on her master’s thesis. While she has a loud personality, she still has an eye for understanding people, and an empathy for others. She’s vibrant, funny, and socially fearless.
Supporting Character. Kenny is a brash, outspoken soccer player who’s lived with Clive since their freshman year. While his heart's in the right place, he often tries to be comedic / sarcastic without realising how literally others think he is.
Supporting Character. Mary is the blunt, tell it to your face kind of friend. While she does care about those around her, she's known for having an icy exterior and a deadpan wit.
