Castin Performers for Comedy Musical "The Gentlemen’s Ploy"

Portland, OR, United States
ID: 300850Exp: 1/6/2026
$960/project
Description:

Seeking non-union Actors for a production of the new musical comedy The Gentlemen’s Ploy, please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Rate: Each actor will receive $960. Additional info: The action takes place in a time that is very similar to the 18th century, but isn’t. The songs, however, are like Broadway musicals of the 1920s and 1930s; think shows by Kern, Gershwin, and Rodgers & Hart. This will be a “semi-staged / semi-produced” production. All actors will be off-book for the performances. There will be blocking, choreography, some fighting, costumes, props, and a live music combo. There will be no sets or mics used in these performances. Since the actors will not be using microphones for the performances, they must be able to sing and fill a room with their voice. The production will be filmed, so each actor will be required to sign a video and photo release. Rehearsals are March 9, 11, 16, 18, 20, 23, 25, 27, 30, and April 1, 3, 7, 8, and 9, from 6:30 to 9:30pm. Due to the compressed rehearsal schedule, actors with fewer conflicts will be given priority casting. Also due to the compressed rehearsal schedule, actors will need to be OFF BOOK at the first rehearsal. Performances are on April 10 and 11 at 7:00 pm FOR YOUR AUDITION - Please prepare an uptempo song of no more than one minute in the style of Gershwin, Kern, or Rodgers & Hart. You may be asked to sing a second contrasting selection (ballad). Bring your music in a three-ring binder, in the correct key, with a full piano part, not just the vocal line. An accompanist will be provided. IF CALLED BACK, actors will be given a part of a song from the show, a small scene, and some very basic choreography to prepare. Please apply if interested.
