About the project: Once on This Island is adapted from the 1985 novel My Love, My Love; or The Peasant Girlby Rosa Guy which she based off of Hans Christian Andersen's story The Little Mermaid. Set in the French Antilles in the Caribbean sea, the story explores the life of Ti Moune, a peasant girl, who lives on a tropical island whose population is separated between different social classes.
