A young adult trying to find her footing. Kat often finds herself pushing forward in an attempt to forget what is behind her. She has a troubled relationship with her mother and has not been in contact with her for some time. It is now the day of her mother's birthday and Kat feels obligated to get her a cake.
Kat's mother, independent and headstrong. Currently working as a freelance consultant, she really had to hustle to get to where she is now. However, her success came at the cost of her personal relationships. Heather wishes she and her daughter could reconnect, but she's not sure how to go about it. It is now Heather's birthday.
