An eighteen-year-old girl must confront her inner demons, both real and metaphorical, as they test her to see if she is worthy of life itself after a brush with death. This Side of Midnight is a psychological horror short that explores mental health through a dark, surreal lens. The story follows Lilith, an eighteen-year-old girl struggling with depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation. As she battles the literal manifestations of her demons, she is forced to confront her will to live. This project is a student-led, independent production created by two passionate filmmakers committed to telling authentic and emotionally charged stories through horror.

Female, late teens to early 20s A newly eighteen-year-old struggling with severe depression and suicidal thoughts. Intelligent, introspective, and haunted by her inner world. The emotional core of the story. Note: Lead role. Must be comfortable portraying intense emotional states.
Mom — Female, 40s–50s (flexible) A mother struggling to cope as her daughter begins to withdraw, stop eating, and lose hope.
Dad — Male, 40s–50s (flexible) A concerned father trying to reconnect with his daughter after finding her following a suicide attempt. Must convey deep emotion with subtlety.
Zera — Female, late teens to early 20s Lilith’s best friend. Empathetic and determined, trying desperately to remind Lilith that she matters.
