About the project: Prompted by the disappearance of their mother, estranged sisters Cait and Elle must reunite to find her. Two years ago, younger sister Elle escaped their mother's controlling lifestyle, with the reluctant aid of older sister Cait. Now, Cait has to ask for her sister's help, and ask her to risk her freedom for the woman who made both their lives miserable. Rate: Non-Union. This is a volunteer, unpaid student production. The elder of the Clifton siblings, Cait is a coy, cheeky young woman dripping in confidence. Behind that facade, she yearns for their mother’s approval and acceptance. Generally having been treated quite badly by her mother, she still tries her hardest to be the picture-perfect child her mother requires her to be. Independent and sarcastic, she is fiercely loyal and protective of her family.
The younger Clifton girl, Eleanor is headstrong and defiant. She fights with Mara at every turn, rebelling in the ways she can. She questions her mother’s orders, criticises every decision and hates the lifestyle they live. Above everything, Elle yearns for a normal life, to study at university, get a degree and get the hell out. Now enjoying the life she always wanted, her past comes back to haunt her – but perhaps it's a welcome one.
[MINOR ROLE] In the peace of early-2000s suburbia, Cait and Elle’s father is killed by a dirty cop. Ever since, their mother, Mara, has been obsessed with finding and bringing down the man responsible for her husband’s murder. A cold and unaffectionate woman, she exhibits full control over her daughters' lives.
