About the project: "Art vs Artist" is a compelling four-episode documentary series set against the vibrant backdrop of Vancouver’s eclectic music scene. Each episode dives deep into the lives and stories of local musicians, from singer-songwriters like Deborah and Arshaan, to film score composer Pablo Khan, and dynamic music therapy ensemble by Orchid Orchestra and M01H, amongst other musicians, as they grapple with themes central to their musical journeys: commerce, addiction, healing, and nature. Directors are inviting submissions from contemporary and experimental dancers, age 19 and above, to participate in "Art vs Artist", a four-episode documentary exploring Vancouver’s diverse musicians and the intersections of business, addiction, therapy, and nature in their creative journeys. Dancers will perform to original soundtracks created by the featured musicians and will also be interviewed as part of the film, offering their personal reflections and interpretations of the theme. This opportunity is open to both individuals and groups who are expressive, collaborative, and comfortable communicating in front of the camera. Also, please submit a self-tape (1–2 minutes) answering the question “What does Art vs Artist mean to you?” along with a demo video of your dance performance that showcases your style and emotional range.
