"The Imaginary Invalid" Play in Search of Cast

About the project: SYNOPSIS: Set in France in 1674, The Imaginary Invalid is a Molière play about Argan, a wealthy, hypochondriacal man who is constantly consulting doctors and is obsessed with his own health. He tries to force his daughter, Angélique, to marry a doctor to get free medical care. However, Angélique loves another man, Cléante, and with the help of the clever maid Toinette and Argan’s wise brother Béralde, they expose the greed of the doctors and Argan’s second wife, Béline, who is only interested in his money. Argan eventually learns the truth about his daughter’s love and agrees to her marriage to Cléante, even though it means his plan for free medical care falls apart. Additional info: What to Expect for the Audition: *Actors must exhibit an ability to have fun, work on a team, and be available for all performance dates. *Auditions will consist of a brief conversation ( such as “Who are you? Tell me about your experience? What attracts you to this play?”). *Actors will also read from the sides of the play and may receive a little direction. Some actors may be asked to sing a cappella (it does not necessarily have to sound nice!) or to tell a joke or a funny story. *A copy of the Audition Sides will be sent to you No callbacks for this show.
