Professional Casting for a Short Film
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Casting actors for upcoming short film. More details are below. About the project: An addict and her boyfriend roam Edmonton to prepare for winter, while reconciling their idea of survival and love. Rate: Non-paid. Union/Non-union are welcome to apply. Food and drink will be provided for everyone. Additional information: TITLE - TBD. RUNTIME - Approx. 30min. LOCATION - Edmonton (Alberta submissions welcome). SHOOTING DATES - Approx. 1-3 hour shoots, November 1st, 2nd, 7th [Depending on submissions - If talent isn’t found we will cast for a TBD date next year around this time]. Although not every scene is outside and given the timing of the shoot. Directors encourage submissions to gauge their comfortability with working outside and in cold weather. LEAD ROLE. DENVER always seems to be looking for something. She is belligerent to street politics and to those she does not love. Her addiction reaches JONNY as does his - They share love through solidarity.
PRINCIPAL. JONNY is a real Edmonton local, formerly train-hopping in what he calls “the prime years”. He is acquainted with most street groups and gets along fine although he is overly unfiltered and officious. The only thing he loves more than his red bike is While loyal to her, his addiction is DENVER more severe.
SUPPORTING. A regular at the thrift store DENVER goes to. Her presence comforts DENVER, becoming a safe place and a friend. In a way she offers the role of a caring adult woman that DENVER did not have growing up.
SUPPORTING. Minimal speaking role. Being part of a different group, SAM is a pest to DENVER. She goes wherever without much thought for the next thing.
SUPPORTING. Minimal speaking role. Being part of the same group as SAM, TD offers a direct line to source drugs and drug paraphernalia. He is crucial to the plot development.
SUPPORTING. Non-speaking role. Part of the SAM group.
