Principal. Now a grounded, resilient Registered Nurse, Tina has survived a traumatic childhood and emerged strong in her faith. She is reflective, warm, and deeply determined, though still haunted by the violent death of her mother. Married to a supportive husband, she seeks closure by confronting her past. Notes: Emotional depth, subtle strength, ability to portray vulnerability and resolve.
Principal Now a calm, self-controlled Male, Tony has built a stable family life. A quiet presence with salt-and-pepper beard, he has worked through much of his trauma — until Tina decides to face their stepfather, Joe. Tony is supportive, cautious, and quietly strong, but haunted by memories he rarely voices. Notes: Must be able to portray stoicism with underlying pain.
Principal A natural beauty, tall and slim, Mary is devoted to her children but trapped in a violent marriage. Intelligent and strong, with maternal warmth, Mary exudes love for her family but is ultimately victimized by her abusive husband. Notes: Must embody maternal warmth and resilience; pivotal, emotionally intense role.
Principal The main antagonist. Joe is Mary’s second husband, a volatile Male consumed by pride, jealousy, and rage. Charismatic at first, he is increasingly abusive, controlling, and violent. Later in life, he lives alone as a bitter, broken Male. Notes: Actor must portray both charm and menace, able to handle intense confrontation scenes.
Principal Mary’s mother. A kind and gentle Female with inner strength. Warm, maternal, deeply protective of her grandchildren.
Principal Mary’s father. Stern but compassionate, a Male of faith and education who deeply loves his daughter and grandchildren. Steady and strong, with quiet authority and warmth.
Supporting Bob’s wife, a cheerful, maternal neighbor. Friendly and trusting, but quick to protect her daughters when Joe arrives.
Supporting Friendly, approachable father of two. Good-natured, neighborly, and loyal, Bob immediately recognizes the danger when the antagonist, Joe, appears.
Supporting Tina’s loving and supportive husband. Kind, steady, and a voice of reason. Encourages Tina to seek closure while grounding her in faith.
Supporting A compassionate church leader delivering words of encouragement and hope. Could be played younger or older. All ethnicities welcome.
Supporting Tony’s devoted wife. Short, dark-haired, warm, and supportive, Lily brings quiet strength and kindness to her family. Though a smaller role in the short, she represents stability and love in Tony’s adult life — and will likely expand in the feature.
