Theater Audition for "The Watsons" Play

About the play: Laura Wade’s adaptation of Jane Austen’s unfinished novel sparkles with Austen’s wit and humour. Every scene you would expect from a Jane Austen novel is here, but not in quite the way you might expect it. This is about what happens when the writer loses the plot and the characters resent discovering they are not real, but there must still be proposals, rejections, declarations of love and even a ball or two.  This is a wonderful comic play sure to delight Austen fans, while being a modern take on the meaning of love, marriage and what on earth is a young woman meant to do with her life.  Additional information: Rehearsal will begin on January 4th and will be held on Sunday afternoons as well as Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Once on stage, some Monday, Wednesday or Friday evening rehearsals may be added as well. Performance dates are March 25 – April 4, 2026 (matinee March 29). All shows with the exception of the matinee will start at 7:30 p.m, matinee at 2:30pm. Member’s preview: Monday March 23, 2026. While there may be no readings for the smaller roles like Bertie, Mr. and Mrs. Edwards, and the militia, these characters will have lines. The characters tell each other about events by ‘stepping in and out’ of the scenes they are describing. This makes for a very fast moving and entertaining play, it also means that many characters will be required at most rehearsals. If you're interested, please apply.
