"'Twas the Night Before Christmas" Play Casting Actors
Auditions for winter children’s theater production of Ken Ludwig’s "'Twas the Night Before Christmas". Looking for cast. Please see the breakdown below. About the project: “’Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.” But wait. A mouse is stirring – because Santa missed his house last year. Before you can say “Merry Christmas,” we’re off on the wild adventures of a mouse, an elf and a spunky little girl who visit the North Pole to save Christmas. Written by Ken Ludwig, author of Lend Me a Tenor and Moon Over Buffalo, this 1-hour show is sure to delight children aged 3 – 103! Additional info: Auditions: please arrive in the first hour. The show is written to be performed by five actors playing 10 parts but depending on auditions, directors may cast up to nine actors and split some of the doubling. Looking for actors with a lot of energy and great comic timing. All roles can be cast any ethnicity and the age and gender of most all characters listed below can be flexible. The sides are attached. Performances: Saturday, December 13 & Sunday, December 14 (morning and early afternoon performances). If you are interested, please apply.
9 roles
A sweet neurotic mouse who doesn’t want to leave his house but finds himself on an adventure to Santa’s Workshop! The actor playing Amos will double as Amos of Kansas, his twin brother, who is much more relaxed and confident, and a surprisingly good swordfighter for a mouse.
(Youthful looking adult): Emily is a spirited young girl bursting with energy and enthusiasm and with a heart full of wonder. She has a playful curiosity and is the embodiment of Christmas cheer.
Sir Guy of Gisbourne will be the first one to tell you he is a master swordsman, a sardonic wit, and the trickiest, sneakiest, most self-satisfied dandy who ever had a black heart and a pencil mustache! (Sword fighting experience a plus!) [may double as Uncle Brierly]
Uncle Brierly is your favorite Uncle! Warm-hearted and jolly with a booming laugh and a twinkle in his eye. The kind that would light up the room at Christmas with his charm and infectious spirit. [May double as Sir Guy]
Mulch is the side-kick to Sir Guy of Gisbourne. He is delightfully clueless, dorky, and endlessly entertaining. [May double as Santa and/or Wendell]
Santa Claus is . . . do I need to finish this sentence? [May double as Mulch and/or Wendell]
Wendell Sneed is Uncle Brierly’s friend. A big, bluff, good natured fellow. [May double as Mulch and/or Santa]
Calliope is a whimsical 518-year-old elf (but doesn’t look a day over 500). She radiates the spirit of Christmas and is full of magical charm. [May double as Britannia]
Britannia Sneed is Wendell’s wife and is as dotty as he is. [May double as Calliope]
