Brooklyn, NY, United States
ID: 291815Exp: 9/9/2025
Description:

Casting performers for "It's Only A Play" Show and looking for performers, please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. About the project: Synopsis: It’s the opening night of The Golden Egg on Broadway, and the wealthy producer Julia Budder is throwing a lavish party in her lavish Manhattan townhouse. Downstairs, the celebrities are pouring in, but the real action is upstairs in the bedroom, where a group of insiders have staked themselves out to await the reviews. The group of insiders includes the excitable playwright; the possibly unstable wunderkind director; the pill-popping leading lady, treading the boards lightly after becoming infamous in Hollywood; and the playwright’s best friend, for whom the play was written but who passed up this production for a television series. Add to this a drama critic who’s panned the playwright in the past and a new-in-town aspiring singer, and you have a prime recipe for the narcissism, ambition, childishness, and just plain irrationality that infuses the theatre- and for comedy. Additional info: Rehearsal Dates* First rehearsal will be Tuesday, Sept 16th Sundays from 6:00-9:00pm Monday-Thursday from 7:00-10:00pm *Please note, you may not be called to all rehearsals. Performance Dates November 7th-16th Friday & Saturday shows start at 8pm Sunday shows start at 2pm. Additionally, there will be a 2pm matinee on Saturday, November 16th. Audition Requirements: Please bring a headshot and resume and prepare sides for whichever character you are interested in.
