The company is holding auditions for "Lost in Yonkers" show and looking for performers, please see the details below ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. About the project: In this coming-of-age story set in 1942, Yonkers, New York, we find the Kurnitz family. Young Arty and Jay come to live with their stern grandmother and sweet Aunt Bella while their father travels, trying to scrape together money to pay off debts. Colorful characters come into their lives like Uncle Louis, a henchman for some gangsters and Aunt Gert, whose most notable issue is that when she speaks she tends to breathe out for the first part of the sentence and in for the second part of the sentence. Neil Simon’s Lost in Yonkers centers around the themes of love, responsibility and the importance of family. Additional info: Performance Dates: November 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22, 23, 2025 Performance Times: Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays @ 7:30 pm*; Sundays @ 2 pm. *Please note that BVP has updated our start time for all main stage productions from 8 p.m. to 7:30 pm., effective September 2025.

Still mourning the loss of his wife. Has run out of options and decides to leave his sons with his mother, who terrifies him. His monologues will be done live from on-stage as opposed to prerecorded.
Emotionally is almost a young, innocent child. She lives with her mother and works in their candy shop downstairs. Bella has big dreams that may never be realized.
Strong, opinionated matriarch of the family. Walks with a limp and runs her family with discipline and authority. She speaks with a German accent.
Black sheep of the family who appears to be involved in something illegal. Is home to “hide out” for a few days. Very likeable, not afraid of his mother and she obviously disapproves of him.
Suffers from a speech affliction, it causes her to say half her line with the breath going out and somewhere in the middle needs to take in more air which causes her to speak in a higher tone. She provides comic relief in her scenes. Scared of her mother.
