Performers Needed for Theatre Audition "Let Nothing You Dismay"
Auditions for production of "Let Nothing You Dismay". ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Please see the details below. About the project: "It's Christmas, and Kevin and Allie are about to become parents- they're just waiting for a phone call. And though they've asked their families to keep their distance until they bring the baby home, of course no one keeps their distance. Kevin's father visits with his much-younger wife and their extended clan, followed by Kevin's mother with her veterinarian, her upstairs neighbor, and her favorite author, and then Allie's family invades, including her ultra-competitive sister, her Bubbie, and Bubbie's gentleman friend. Eight actors play twenty-two characters in this lightning-paced holiday farce that celebrates families of all kinds." Rate: Actor stipend is $600 with potential bonus of $50-$100 if the show breaks even. Additional info: Initial auditions will be group readings from the script. Actors will come in groups of up to 20. Actors will mix and match, reading a variety of characters. Please bring your headshot and actor’s resume. Callbacks will be September 13, from noon to 5:00pm. Rehearsals begin the week October 12. Be ready to inform of any conflicts you’ll have from October 12 through November 8. Directors expect all actors to be present for ALL rehearsals in the final two weeks of rehearsals/tech. Rehearsals will be Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturday late morning/early afternoons initially and as they get closer to tech week they will add in Tuesdays. Shows: November 22-December 21. (female identifying): Plays the characters of Allie and Lizzie. Allie is married to Kevin. She is brilliant but constantly compares herself to her sister, Angela. They are trying to adopt a baby from Lizzie and Leonard. Lizzie is the birth Mother for Allie and Kevin. She may be thinking of keeping the baby. She’s Super Pregnant.
(male identifying): Plays the characters of Kevin and Leonard. Kevin is married to Allie. He is younger than Allie. They are trying to adopt a baby from Lizzie and Leonard. Leonard is with Lizzie. He wears a Domino’s Pizza uniform and is the first to notice Lizzie is missing.
(female identifying): Plays the characters of Kaitlyn, Brianna and Angela. Kaitlyn is 30 and a former beauty queen. She is married to Paul. Brianna is 40 is a severe but strangely appealing person, an author, very observant and a genius. Angela is 37, a brilliant neurosurgeon and Allie’s sister. She is married to Rich.
(male identifying): Plays the characters of Dennis, Jerry and Rich. Dennis is 36, an investment banker and always busy with his phone. He is brothers with Kevin. Jerry is 45. He is married to Dr. Tim and wears a Christmas sweater. They are always together in a lovely way. Rich is 37 and married to Angela. He lives a life of quiet desperation.
(female identifying): Plays the characters of Tawny, Deb from Upstairs and Linda. Tawny is a former model; her face bears a terrifyingly cheerful and unchanging expression. She is Kaitlyn’s Mother. Deb from Upstairs is 70 and looks as though she went on a shopping spree at a visitor’s center in New Mexico and is now wearing everything she purchased. Linda is married to Oscar. She is Allie and Angela’s mother.
(male identifying): Plays the characters of Paul, Dr. Tim and Mr. Yarmowhich. Paul is Kevin and Dennis’ Dad. He is a New York politician, and the world is his campaign stop. Dr. Tim, 53 is married to Jerry. They wear Christmas Sweaters and are always together in a lovely unflappable way. Mr. Yarmowhich is 88 and very dapper. He is Bubbie’s boyfriend and the Assisted Living Facility.
(female identifying): Plays the characters of Noreen, Charlotte and Bubbie. Noreen is Kevin’s Aunt, 60. She is a Nun from Chicago. Charlotte is 56, she’s Kevin’s Mother and Paul’s ex-wife. She is a free spirit from Detroit. Bubbie is 84, she is Linda’s Mother and Allie’s Grandmother. She brought her lover, Mr. Yarmowich.
(male identifying): Plays the characters of Milford, Ivan and Oscar. Milford is 80. He is perpetually in pursuit of his own unspoken tasks. Ivan is 62. He is a shifty-eyed Bulgarian whose upper half does not match his lower half. He likes to talk about the difference between America and Bulgaria. He is Charlotte’s Dry Cleaner. Oscar is 60 and married to Linda. He is Allie and Angela’s Father.
