ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Directors are looking for performers for upcoming play. Please, see the details below. About the play: The play is a tender, multi-voiced devised theatre piece created by the June cohort of the 2025 A&A program. It follows the intersecting lives of a group of immigrants and newcomers in Canada as they navigate identity, home, belonging, and dreams in a land demanding assimilation. The central thread follows C, a French immigrant, who is experiencing a wave of homesickness despite her deep love for the life she has built in Canada. Her roommate and close friend, B, picks up on her sadness and quietly begins orchestrating a beautiful surprise to celebrate C's heritage. Meanwhile, Sasha, a Latino immigrant and aspiring theatre artist, meets resistance from a disbelieving Caseworker, who pressures him to give up his dreams in favor of a more "productive" path. Sasha's struggle illustrates the tension between personal fulfillment and the systems that often erase non-normative aspirations. At a house party, B and C cross paths with (UNNAMED), a transmasc Ukrainian immigrant grappling with the search for a gender-affirming name. Through Through a a poetic, poe powerful monologue, (UNNAMED) articulates the pain and complexity of being suspended between identities -between names, cultures, and expectations. The play culminates in a moving celebration where friends gather to surprise C with music, food, and warmth from her country. It's a moment of community, where difference is not erased but honoured. The characters reclaim agency over their narratives and identities in this world. Additional information: Venue: Vaughan. Rehearsals begin the week of July 21st. Performances August 28-30, matinees.
